Everything went so smoothly because Alta pays close attention to the details .... from bathroom breaks to food to the transportation. And she goes a step further than expected like pulling out a thermos of hot tea on a cold winters day. Everyone in the group loved her.

Missing Ed

Our group did a one day tour to see the Burtkitchi Championships, about 3 hours east of Almaty. Burtkitchi is the Kazakh term for the local custom of hunting with golden eagles. We had an amazing day! Altanai was an excellent guide- she was knowledgeable, organized, but above all really, really fun and kind. The experience was amazing, despite the heavy fog. 50 Kazakh men in traditional dress with trained eagles swooping down on foxes and rabbits was quite a sight! Living in posh Almaty, it's easy to forget where we are in the world sometimes, so it was great to experience this part of Kazakh life and to see people trying to keep their traditions alive. I look forward to doing another tour with Altanai!

Alta offers a very professional tour service to tourists looking for a comfortable and informative trip in Kazakhstan. We were very impressed with the range of cultural and historical insights she offered as well as her personal approach to the tour. She was very responsive and structured the day tour nicely, including visits to villages, local markets and food tasting along the way. I would highly recommend her service for a memorable tour in the region.

Missing From Japan

We went to the big almaty lakes and falcon show tour with Alta and really enjoyed it. The lake was beautiful and the falcon show was very impressive! It's amazing that people can train these birds to listen to them!

Alta is a great guide. She knows everything about Kazakhstan so you can pick her brains during the car ride to the lake and the show. Highly recommend her as a tour guide.

Missing Ambrosia

Alta ensured our short visit to Almaty was memorable. She was able to give in-depth information about the city (and country) and responded with detailed answers to our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed the Birds of Prey show with Pavel Pfander - the little owl was especially cute. We also visited the historic Orthodox Cathedral in the centre of Almaty and Freedom Square. We'd recommend Alta to all visitors to Almaty as a reliable, outgoing and totally dependable guide. She certainly went the extra mile for us.

We did two different day tours (Charyn Canyon and Issyk Lake) with Alta and were very impressed with both. Alta is incredibly knowledgeable about the places we visited as well as Kazakhstan as a whole. Her warm and friendly personality made the long car journeys enjoyable. We learned a lot about the destinations on the tour, as well as the history and current culture of Kazakhstan. We were taken to local vendors and were able to try several different (and very tasty) local food. If you take a tour with Alta, you will not be disappointed!

I was in Almaty Kazakhstan for 5 days doing some academic work with a local university. On my first full day I wanted to get a 3-4 hour overview of the city and so I took the tour with Alta. It was great and I will give you 4 reasons why:

1. Alta got a Masters degree in the US and so her English is excellent as she is fluent.

2. Alta is very knowledgable about Almaty and Kazakhstan as she is a native of Almaty. In addition, she has a broad understanding of the world which she clearly gained from her educational experience.

3. Alta geared the tour to my interests, not basing it on a pre-written script. I was interested in seeing the high points and learning how to navigate the public transit system. So she encorporated a subway ride, bus ride and taxi ride into the tour.

4. She made the tour enjoyable as she has a personality that makes you feel welcome and like you are friends.

Her tour was one on the best city tours I have ever had. If you want a personalized tour of the city, Alta is the person to go with!

Alta is wonderful person, very professional and with great passion for the tourism in Kazakhstan. I booked two day-trip with Alta, one to charyn Canyon, and another in Almaty city, I am very much impressed by her knowledge not just in tourism, but also in history, geography, culture, ect. , at the same time she is very easy person and caring. I am sure, if I got chance to go to Almaty, I will definitely go to her for the great service.

Missing Monika

Actually we went to visit a son in Astana. Flew to Almaty and had booked Alta for a tour of the city. It was so nice with her that we added next day. Her husband drove us into the mountains and lake area. Wonderful! We ended the entire day with them. Made friends and are still in touch. Our appreciation of Kazakhstan was greatly enhanced through them.

The original itinerary I had scheduled had to be canceled due to weather and road conditions, but that did not stop the ever resourceful Alta from recommending an even more interesting itinerary to places i had no idea existed. The highlight was the Tamgaly petrogylphs. A magical set of low hills coved with some of the oldest human art. You can literally see the transition form hunting animals to domesticating them in the various petroglyphs. A fascinating place and a hidden gem. Alta's knowledge was deep with regards to almost any subject regarding the region and Kazakhstan in general.

On top of being an excellent guide she provided excellent transportation for our somewhat long journey, speaks perfect English, is a good conversationalist and has a lovely sense of humor.

All in it was about as perfect an experience as i could wish for and would recommend Altynai to anyone
