You will see there an eternally clear sky, blue mirages, golden sands and boundlessly expansive steppe lands, wild asses, ibexes camels, mountain sheep, and gazelles flourish here, as do different types of flora. That’s the Gobi Desert of Mongolia!
Day 1 – City tour with Monastery and National Museum
Pick you up from Chinggis Khan international airport and transfer to the hotel. City touring with Gandan monastery and Mongolian National Museum.
Day 2 – Baga Gazaryn Chuluu and Nomadic Family
After early breakfast, we will start our trip with a full day driving to the Baga Gazariin Chuluu Ruins (1768 m high granite Stone Mountain in the territory of Adaatsag soum, Dundgobi province. It is another place with unique scenery that many tourists compare with lunar scenes. The mountain contains remains of old temples. They are not only rich in mineral and crystals, but also eye spring, old stone temple ruins related with the 17th century. We will spend the night in a nomadic family’s yurt.
Day 3 - Yoliin Am and Trekking
We will drive to Yoliin Am in middle of the Gobi desert National Park which is a strictly protected area, covering 70 sq.kms. The mountains here are the highest in the Gobi Desert and the rocky scenery is quite interesting, especially until mid-July while the ice in a gorge remains. We will do trekking for 3km through a narrow valley, then 3km back to the minivan. Spend our night at another nomadic yurt.
Day 4 – Khongoryn Els and Hiking
After lunch start our drive to the Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes (195km). The Khongoryn Els is some of the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. You will see beautiful views, huge sand dunes and a cold water spring with a river that leads to two small ponds. The sands have attractive curves which end in a sharp edge, making wave-like patterns on the sand. They continually change shape due to the wind and reflect yellow-white colors as the intensity of light changes during the day.
Day 5 - Khongoryn Els and Camel Riding
We will climb and hike to the top of the biggest sand dunes. There is an oasis near Khongor creek at the northern edge of the sand dune. The dunes make a sound like the plane engine in a windy day so it’s named as “Singing Dunes”. Also, if you wish, you may walk alongside the creek for about 10 km. We arrange a camel riding trip on the real sand dunes.
Day 6 – Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs) – Amazing view
Next drive to Bayan-Zag (150km). When we arrive at Bayan-Zag, spend our night in the Ger. Bayan-Zag means "Flaming Cliffs" of Bayan-Zag, famous for the discovery of dinosaur fossils. The area is most famous for yielding the first discovery of dinosaur egg
Day 7 – Tsagaan Suvraga – Amazing view
That day we will drive to the scarp of Tsagaan Suvarga which is located in Ulziit soum, Dundgobi province. It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from the cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over thousands of years, the wind has created this amazing structure.
Day 8 – Back to the city and culture show
Time to back to the city and evening we will get Mongolian traditional drinks while watching culture show.
Day 9 – Transfer to Airport
Our team gives your ride to the airport or you can choose another trip from our trip package.
For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
