Classic Kamchatka Tour, 13 Days

Bears roam along the coast in search of fish, Steller sea eagles soar in the sky and killer whales occasionally jump out of the cornflower water of Avacha Bay.
 Discover the centuries-old giant volcanoes and quite "young" dwarf cones, the lively Rapid River valley and the scorched «Dead Wood».

This very replete and informative tour will show you the most interesting areas of Kamchatka and its active volcanoes. During the tour you will visit some of the unique places of Kamchatka — including the active volcanoes Mutnovskiy and Gorely, which are some of the most beautiful volcanoes of Kamchatka. 

You will cross Kamchatka from the South to the North and, moving from one climate zone to another, you will go to central Kamchatka, to the location of the largest volcanoes in Eurasia. You will visit one of the most interesting places for tourists in Kamchatka — the Kluchevskaya group of volcanoes, in which there is the highest and most famous volcano — Kluchevskoy (4750 m). This is the area of the most intense volcanism in Russia.
While rafting on the river Bystraya, which runs through a stately mountain range, you will be able to fish and watch the wildlife of Kamchatka: birds, salmon runs in the rivers, and possibly brown bears. Additionally, during the tour, you can swim in the natural hot springs and pools with thermal waters.  

You will see Kozirevsk — the original settlement of hunters, fishermen and loggers, located on the shore of the River Kamchatka. While rafting on the river Bystraya, which runs through stately mountain range, you will be able to fish and watch the wildlife of Kamchatka: birds, salmon runs in the rivers, and possibly brown bears. And also, during the tour, you can swim in the natural hot springs and pools with thermal waters. 

It's possible to join only for a part of the tour with an individual program. The sequence of the tour passage can be changed.

Itinerary:

The journey begins with a meeting at the airport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which you must travel to on your own. We can help with the purchase of tickets. If necessary, leave a comment on the application.

Day 1 Arrival to Kamchatka

Meeting in the airport, moving to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (25 km). Accommodation in the hotel (DBL), rest, walking to the city. You will have dinner with the guide at 20:00 and discuss the program.
 
Day 2 Boat trip

Boat and fishing trip to the Avacha Bay (5-6 hours). Observing nesting places of sea birds, the island “Babushkin Kamen”, and the rocks “Three Brothers”. Moving to the Pacific Ocean to the island “Starichkov”.

In the end moving to the volcano Mutnovsky on the vehicle (4WD) (100 km). Setting the camp. Spend the night in tents. 
 
Day 3 Ascent to the crater of Mutnovsky volcano

Ascent to the crater of the volcano Mutnovsky (2323 m). Observing active fumaroles, mud siphons, and a mountain lake. The Mutnovsky crater is the one of the most outstanding volcanic phenomena in Kamchatka. The steep slopes surround the wide and deep cavity of the crater with gleaming glaciers, crushed cracks and boiling fumaroles (ascent will take approximately 8 hours). Spend the night in tents.  

Day 4 Climbing the volcano Burnt (1829 m)

Ascent to the volcano Gorely (1829 m), moving past lava flows and cinder fields, observing 3 craters with volcanic lakes (it will take approximately 6 hours). In the evening moving to the recreation center on the vehicle (4WD). Accommodation, rest, swimming in the pools with thermal water. 

Day 5 Optional day

On this day it is possible to go on a helicopter excursion to Geyser Valley and Uzon Caldera, Walking excursion around Geyser Valley. Lunch is at Geyser Valley. 

In the evening moving to the area of settlement Malka (130 km) on the vehicle (4WD). Setting the camp. Swimming in the hot springs. Spend the night in tents.  

Day 6 Kluchevskaya volcanoes group

Moving to the area of Kluchevskaya volcano group on the vehicle (460 km). Lunch in the settlement Milkovo (in café, you pay for yourself). Moving to the foot of the beautiful volcano massif formed by the volcanoes Plosky and Ostry Tolbachik. 
By the road in clear weather you will see the panorama of the volcanoes Krestovsky (4057 m), Ushkovsky (3903 m), Kluchevskaya Sopka (4750 m), Kamen (4579 m), Plosky Tolbachik (3082 m) and Ostry Tolbachik (3672 m). Spend the night in tents.
 
Day 7 Observing the consequences of the 2013’s eruption

Observing the consequences of the 2013 eruption (the young cone, the wide fresh lava flows, caves — “lavovody”, the stone sculptures and the heaps of hardened lava). 
 
Day 8 South and North breakthrough

Moving by car to the North breakthrough. Climbing to Tolbachik cones, which are miniature volcanoes, with heights of 100-200 meters. Moving to the South breakthrough (15 km.). Visit the Southern cone break, a walk in the "Dead Wood", crushed slag and ash eruptions from 1975. Return to camp. Overnight in tents.

Day 9 "Dead Forest" and Milkovo village

A walk to the "Dead Forest", destroyed by slag and ash eruptions in 1975. Moving to the village of Milkovo, located on the river bank Kamchatka is 230 km (4 hours). Accommodation in the hotel "Geolog". (It is freshly built hotel, everything is clean and tidy, the rooms have a washbasin and toilet, shower in the separate room, on the floor).

Walking through one of the oldest settlements in the Kamchatka Territory, based on the old burg of Itelmen - the indigenous inhabitants of Kamchatka in the 18th century.
 
Day 10 Rafting

Moving to the settlement Malka (130 km) on the vehicle (4WD) with a stop in the settlement Milkovo for lunch (in café, you pay for yourself) and for the excursion to the Ethnography Museum of the Kamchatka river’s aborigines. Start rafting down the river Bystraya. Spend the night on the shore in tents.
 
Day 11 Passage of rapids

Rafting on the Bystraya River (passage of 2 rapids, there is high probability of seeing bears and salmon). Fishing. Camping for the night.

Day 12 Finishing of rafting

End of rafting with passage of the rapids. Driving back (180 km) to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Accommodation in hotel (DBL), rest.

Day 13 Homecoming

Transfer to fish market at 9:00. Transfer to airport. 

Accommodation during the trip:

The first and last days you will spend in a hotel. The fourth and the ninth nights — in guesthouse. And other nights will be spent in a tent camp.
