Since we will begin in morning, we will guide you north of Georgia along the piсturesque Darial Gorge. Over the centuries, the Darial Pass has attracted numerous travelers from all around the world, many of whom have described it in poems, stories and pictures.
The first stop is at Ananuri Fortress (late 16th cent. – beg 17th cent.). The Fortress contains a temple of the Dormision of the Blessed Virgin Mary and an ancient tower of the 13th cent. The place is full of intrigue, legends and history. Once upon a time it was one of the strongest fortresses in all of Georgia. In medieval times, the site was the scene of battles, even between Georgian rulers. The Ananuri Fortress opens your eyes to an amazing view of the Zhinvalis Water Reservoir.
Before embarking on the next leg of the tour, we will stop at a great place near the Aragvi riverside. The fresh air and surrounding mountains will remind you that it’s lunch time. Here you can share a hearty lunch in the open air with natural views on all sides.
After a small, pleasant rest, we will continue to discover gorgeous Georgia. The next place we will pass by is the famous Georgian ski resort in Gudauri. The place is well-known and popular, especially in winter time. Our stop will be a little bit further near the Arch of Friendship between Georgia and Russia. From the observation deck, to the rock cliff (more than 2000 meters above sea level), this memorable place gives you a feeling of flying above the mountains. It’s a great place for taking pictures.
We continue our tour towards the the small, picturesque town in the mountains, Stepantsminda. Here you can gaze up at the famous Kazbegi mountain (5033,8 м), which attracts more and more climbers, hikers and casual mountaineers each year. Locals prefer to come here to rest and relax when they want to run away from the hassle of city life, and you can share this feeling with them.
On the top of the mountain near the Holy Trinity Monastery (XIV C.), you can take a stroll along the cliff’s edge and contemplate how tiny everything looks from above. The view from Gergeti Monastery on a clear day is stunning - from one side you can see the village below like the size of your hand and on the other side, the gorgeous Kazbegi Mountain.
After such a vibrant journey, we will then make our way back to Tbilisi.
