Altai Tavan Bogd National Park is an impressive natural reserve and is famous for its 5 highest peaks and largest Potanin glacier, lying on more than 4,000m above the sea level, the highest and westernmost region of Mongolia.

 The park has not only natural wonders but also it has cultural and historical wonders including thousands of ancient rock carvings, listed on UNESCO World Heritage Site, mysterious stone men and burial mounds and uncommon nomadic cultures of Kazakh and Tuva people.

Day 1 - Fly to Bayan-Ulgii and explore Lake Dayan

Meet in the Ulaanbaatar. Fly to Ulgii, the capital of the Bayan-Ulgii province. The flight takes 3 and a half hours, and on arrival at the airstrip in the Ulgii. A half day, drive to Dayan Lake, near the frontier with China. First drive to Sagsay soum, and have a hot lunch at Hargan River, Continue via Karagul (Black Lake). Visit Kazakh Eagle hunter’s family and feel their grade hospitalities. Meet Kazakh Eagle hunter and see his magnificent bird. See how Kazakh women are making felt and other handy crafts. Day 2 - Lake Hoton and Hurgan

Early morning hiking around lake Dayan. After lunch, drive nearby western side of Hurgan Nuur and Hoton Nuur, where many Nomadic Kazakh families spend summer. Along the lakes, we see the beautiful waterfall, rock paintings and some ancient Turkic stones with face. On the right side we see the snowcapped mountains with forest, which make the wall between China and Mongolia. Day 3 - Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

Today we will have full day drive to Altai Tavanbogd National Park (means The Holy Five) via Tsagaan Gol (White river) valley and through Altai Mountains that are Mongolia’s largest and highest mountain range more than 3000-4000 meters high. One famous spot is “Shiveet Hairhan” Sacred Mountain, where we will see the largest rock painting site from the period of the Huns (approx 200 B.C.) Overnight in tent

Day 4 - Altai Tavan Bogd horse trek and Potanian Glacier

Today we will ride horse (11km – you can hike also) to Altai Tavanbogd referring to the peaks of Huiten – 4374m and the highest. It is a stunning setting with the awe inspiring massif of high snow capped peaks. We will reach the 20km long Potanina glacier, which is ice river starts from Altai Tavan Bogd Snow Peaks. Back to base camp and overnight in tent.

Day 5 - Drive back to Ulgii

After early breakfast, drive via Ulaanhus over desert mountain landscapes, with the snow-capped Sogoog Mountain as a powerful backdrop and the Altai Mountain range ahead of us. Enjoy photographing the charming landscape. After 5-6 hours, arrive back to Ulgii town. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 6 - Fly back to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, you will be driven back to internal airport, Ulgii return flight to Ulaanbaatar. We’ll pick you up at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. End trip.

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
