The Tale of Geser is a heroic epic of the peoples of Central Asia. Geser - the son of a heavenly deity was sent to earth to fight evil. The path along the “Geser Land” leads through the reserved places of the Tunkinskaya Valley through the famous “Circle Baikal River” to the sands and pines of the magic island Olkhon.
The journey begins in Irkutsk, one of the most beautiful and ancient cities of Siberia. Then move to Buryatia, to the majestic, covered with ancient legends mountains of the Eastern Sayans, healing mineral springs, the cleanest mountain rivers. On the Circum-Baikal Railway - a unique monument of engineering architecture - the train will take you to the “gates of Baikal”, as the port-village Listvyanka is called. From here you will make a move to Olkhon Island - a place of ancient legends and historical legends.

Day 1

Meeting in Irkutsk at 9:00 at the airport, at 10:00 at the railway station (local time, ahead of Moscow by 5 hours). Car sightseeing tour of the city.

After the tour - back on the road. We are going to the mountains (moving 230 km), to the Republic of Buryatia! The road along the beautiful mountain serpentine will lead us to the fabulous world of the Eastern Sayans, to the Tunkinskaya valley. Accommodation in a hotel in one of the villages of the valley (Perl or Arshan).

Day 2

Auto tour of the village. Arshan - the center of the balneological and mountain-climatic resort.
One of the most picturesque villages of the Tunkinskaya Valley is located at the foot of the majestic Sayan Mountains, just 100 km from the Mongolian border on the banks of the mountain river Kyngarga.
Passing to the resort area of ​​the village of Arshan, you will visit the exotic local market of souvenirs and medicinal herbs, and then, along a beautiful forest path, passing along the picturesque canyon of the r. Kungarga, get to the place where the river falls off a waterfall. You will try mineral water of different composition from healing springs and visit the existing Buddhist temple - datsan Bodhiharma.
After lunch, it is possible, upon request (for extra charge), to visit healing procedures (mineral baths, showers) at the Pearls resort.

Day 3

Free day. You can stay in the village to swim in the springs, take a walk, admire the unforgettable mountain scenery or go on a tour (optional, for extra charge).
Today you will be offered an excursion "Mountain Oka" - the path to Geser Land (cost 2500 rubles per person for a group of 6 or more). You will pass through the Tunkinskaya valley, where the Khamar-Daban mountain range and the arrays of the Tunkinsky loaches form a magnificent panorama, make stops at the sacred places of the valley, each of which has its own legend. In the village. Mondy, almost near the border with Mongolia, the valley narrows, and the road rises higher and higher into the mountains. Alpine road leading to the center of the most distant, Okinsky, district of Buryatia is only 20 years old. For centuries, there was only an ancient horse trail.
Residents of the Okinsky District proudly call their homelands the edge of Geser, his “toonto nyutag” - the small homeland. The epic hero Geser is revered by the peoples of Mongolia, Buryatia, Tuva, and Kalmykia.

Day 4

Moving to the village. Kultuk (92 km). Excursion on the Circum-Baikal Railway. On the excursion train, you will pass through the section of the old Circum-Baikal road, in 1905 a “golden buckle” connecting the Trans-Siberian Railway - the “steel belt” of Russia. Great interest among tourists is caused by tunnels, powerful retaining walls, viaducts made of ashlar, wooden buildings in the modernist style of the early twentieth century. The road and the territory adjacent to it include not only numerous monuments of engineering and technical art and architecture, but also a variety of nature monuments - geology, mineralogy, zoology, biology.

Day 5

Day 6

Moving to Irkutsk (70 km), on the way visiting the Taltsy architectural and ethnographic museum. A unique open-air museum - a recreated corner of an old Siberian village of the XVII-XIX centuries. There is also a Buryat ulus from the yurts, and Evenki campsites. More than 40 architectural monuments tell about the life of the Evenks, Buryats, and the first Russian explorers. Here are held various theatrical festivals, you can ride horses, Russian swings, buy products of national craftsmen.
Transfer to Olkhon Island, to the village of Khuzhir (270 km). A special impression will leave the trip by ferry through the strait Olkhon gates. Accommodation at the recreation center.
7th day. Day trip to Cape Khoboy (the northern tip of the island).
The spectacular pillar-like rock that gave the name of the cape has its own legend. The cape is located near the widest place of Baikal (79.5 km). It is here that you will have the opportunity to assess the size of the lake, which the locals habitually call the sea. On the way, you will see all the variety of landscapes and natural monuments of the Island: the picturesque steppes of northern Olkhon, the Three Brothers rock, stilted trees of the Peschanoye tract.

8 - 9 Days

Rest on the island. Olkhon concentrated on its territory all the diversity of the natural landscapes of the Baikal shores. For wildlife lovers and photographers, this is a real reserve of surprisingly diverse and majestic landscapes. Visit the famous 3-km long white sandy beach of the Saraisky Bay: the unusual nature and the purest water of Baikal!
This is a wonderful time to feel alone with the Great Baikal at the end of the road. Olkhon is a great place to relax and meditate.
You can also visit water, horseback and car tours (optional, for an additional fee): in the Buryat village (from 600 rubles / person), in the southern part of.
