Nothern Lights Hunting Tour

The Arctic is famous for its beautiful northern lights, also named Aurora Borealis. Every year thousands people come here to see this phenomenon. But the lights do not appear in the sky every night. See and “catch” on camera fascinating dance of green and violet flame in the dark sky is a big success. By the way, will we be so lucky to see Aurora or not, you get great pictures and have a good time full of various activities. You discover the little-known Tersky coast of the White Sea, which keeps many hidden wonders.

This tour is suitable for beginners and advanced photographers, people who want to enjoy the stark beauty of the Russian North. You will visit excellent locations for photographing, get valuable advices from our guide and high-quality photos.

Tour program

1st Day

Meeting the guide at the railway station (Kandalaksha town). Please take the train which arrive not later than 8 a.m.

Transfer to Kolvitsa village. Walk on snowshoes to the Kolvitsa waterfall (10 m height), photographing, excursion along a river.

Outdoor meal

Walk on snowshoes to the Domashnyaya hill (in good whether)

6 p.m. Transfer to Kuzreka village. Dinner.

9 p.m. Northern lights hunting

2nd Day

Breakfast. Walk on snowshoes to the seacoast.

Outdoor meal, return to guest house.

Dinner. Russian sauna (“banya”), time to relax.

Northern lights hunting.

3rd Day

Breakfast. National art workshop on creating an authentic amulet toy “pomorskaya kozulya”.

Short walk on snowshoes along the Umba river to non-freezing river rapids.

Dinner. Transfer to night train, stop on the road for the last opportunity to catch the northern lights.

Departure by the night trains after 12 a.m.

Clothes and shoes

Thermal underwear, fleece jacket and pants, warm coat, warm cap, gloves (mittens), balaclava for face protection or warm buff, windproof pants (for example ski pants), thermal socks (not cotton; two pairs), warm boots for snowshoes, gaiters, extra warm boots or warmed fishing boots (cheap and low weight, suitable for evening northern lights hunting), underwear and clean clothes (for sauna)

Accessories

Backpack for walks (to hold your photo equipment, tripod, thermos, snack foods, extra clothes; 30-50 liters)

Sunglasses, flashlight, thermos, sit pad, towel and shower shoes (for sauna), power bank, sealed matches and a lighter (turbo with piezo igniter)

Personal care

Personal hygiene items, hygienic lipstick, wet wipes, paper napkins. Mug, bowl, spoon, knife

Medicines

Oily skin cream, sun protection cream, anesthetic, individual pharmaceuticals

Documents

Passport, money, telephone, medical insurance policy
