The tour begins in Tashkent - the biggest city of Central Asia and the modern capital of Uzbekistan. Next destination is Nukus city located in the central part of Karakalpakistan Republic. This historical city is world-famous for its unique museums. The tour will then move forward to Khiva - the ancient capital of Kharezm emirate and an important World Heritage site. A walking tour will reveal the mysteries of this legendary town leaving the unforgettable impressions. Then we will proceed to Bukhara - "the Pearl of the East'?. Old buildings, madrassahs, mosques, minarets and covered bazaars keep Bukhara as an oldest living city of the caravan days. Our next destination will be Sarmish-say - a river gorge on the south slope of the Karatau mountain ridge belonging to the Zarafshan mountain range. Amazing petroglyphs (the carved drawings of primitive people) from the Bronze Age (ca 6000-4000 BC), with a total number of more than 4 thousands, constitute the most important part of the archaeological landscape of Sarmish-say and attract thousands of people annually. The tour will then take us to the town of Nurata located 240 km far from Samarkand, and considered to be a nice pilgrimage place for Muslims. Nurata was founded as the ancient town Nur, in 327 BC by Alexander the Great. The remains of his military fortress in the south of the town and the water supply system - "Kariz'?, that Alexander had installed (and which is still partially used) - are among the notable sight-seeing places of this town. Then the route will take us to Samarkand - one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, prospering from its location on the trade route between China and the Mediterranean Silk Road. Samarkand is rich of ancient monuments, buildings and places of interesting as well. In 2001, UNESCO added the city to its World Heritage List as Samarkand - Crossroads of Cultures. Not far from Samarkand, there is another destination of this tour - town of Shakhrisabz - the birthplace of Timur (or Tamerlan), the 14th century Turco-Mongol conqueror, where everything someway or other connected with his name. This historical place will make you feel its unique aura. The tour will end in its starting point - Tashkent city.
