They are part of the western Pamir - Alay mountain system and are primarily located in Tajikistan's Sughd Province between the Zarafshan Range to the north and the Gissar Range to the south. The highest peak of the Fann Mountains is Chimtarga 5489m. Also there are a lot of 5000m peaks (Energia, Zamok, Mirali, Chapdara, Bodkhona etc.) around Chimtarga. Our trekking tour will take you to some of the most beautiful places in this valley and you will surely fall in love with these incredible places as we explore a hiker's paradise in the North part of Tajikistan

ITINERARY: MAJESTIC FANN MOUNTAINS 

Day 1: WELCOME TO DUSHANBE, TAJIKISTAN (800m)

Arrive to Dushanbe. In airport you will be met by your guide and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day you will relax in the hotel or explore the city. 

Dushanbe - the city of flowers is undoubtedly one of the best and beautiful cities of central Asia. It is full of interesting Soviet Union and modern architecture. There are a lot of museums, monuments, parks, and sites everywhere you walk, including the Unified Museum and the Museum of Antiquities, as well as a beautiful opera theater, neoclassical building Khokhi Navruz and traditional teahouse “Rohat”, where visitors can taste Tajik sweets. This is a great city to relax and enjoy some traditional foods. People are warm and friendly. Everywhere they meet you with smile and hospitality.

Accommodation: twin/double sharing basis hotel. Welcome dinner at the best national restaurant: 18:30

 

Day 2: TRANSFER TO BODKHONA. FIRST NIGHT IN TENTS (140km, 4hrs, 2300m)

In the morning after breakfast at the hotel we leave Dushanbe for Bodkhona via the Istiqlol Tunnel (2741m). The tunnel is about 5,040m long, located 80 km northwest of Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe and connects the Tajik capital to the country's second largest city, Khujand, which  is closed 5-6 month a year due to snow in the Anzob Pass. The road travels through dramatic scenery and mountain passes. On the way we visit Shurmask village (1800m) for a lunch and have some hike around the village to introduce to lifestyle of local peoples. After lunch we continue the way to our camp. On the way you can stop the car in order to take pictures, if you wish.

At 14:30 – 15:00 you will be in Bodkhona and will have 2hrs hiking around for acclimatization.

DAY 3: BEGINNING OF THE ACTIVE PART OF TOUR. TREKKING OVER CHAPDARA PASS TO ALAUDDIN LAKES (14km, 5-6hrs, 3430m)

We start our trek at 8:00. The trail takes us up the Bodkhona River valley through mixed juniper and deciduous birch forest.  On the traverse we hike along Obi Bodkhona and have spectacular views of the Bodkhona Peak and the Yakhdon Glacier. After Yakhdon by the right side we ascent steeply track to Chapdara Pass (3430m). There we can see fabulous panoramic view of Fann Mountains. Lunch and snack during trekking. Then we descend to the Alauddin Lakes (2750m). Alauddin lakes is the chain of the most stunningly beautiful of numerous lakes in Tajikistan with crystal blue and green colors, each of which is a visual delight and seems more beautiful than the other

Accommodation will be in the tents next to the lake. Dinner: 18:00.

 

DAY 4: ASCENT TO MUDDY LAKE AND BACK (7km, 3-4hrs, 3500m)

This morning we are going to explore the beauty of a high-altitude lake situated between Highest Mountains of the valley like Kaznok Peak (4200m), Cherny Peak (5010m), Zamok Peak (5070m), Energia Peak (5105m) and dominant Chimtarga Peak (5487m). The view of these peaks will take your breath away. Really…! When I was here for the first time I felt the “magnetism” of the mountains. On the way also we can see a birch grove and a small "Piala Lake"

We will have lunch near the lake and after hiking around get back to our camp.

Accommodation will be in the tents, at the Alauddin Lake. Dinner: 18:00.

 

DAY 5: LAST NIGHT IN THE TENTS. HIKE OVER LAUDAN PASS TO KULI KALON LAKES (12 km, 7hrs, 3630m)

After the breakfast you start your morning with a 7 hour hiking tour over Laudan Pass (3630m).  This is the highest point of the tour. It will be a great long day hiking with the moderately steep trail, but also offers great views of high mountains, juniper forest as well as green meadows. While trekking you find this trail is riched with beautiful flora and fauna. On the top it will be opened amazing view of kuli Kalon (2800m) valley. On the left side of which is turquoise necklace of Kulikalon Lakes (7) huge 2 kilometer wall with dominating tops: Maria (4970m), Mirali (5120m), Rudaki (4900m), Adamtash (4700m) is called Kulikalon Wall - the high peaks that holding up the sky!

Accommodation will be in the tents next to the lake. Dinner: 18:00.

 

DAY 6: TREKKING OVER CHUKURAK PASS TO ARTUCH MOUNTAIN CAMP (3150m, 7km, 4hrs)

Today is the last trekking day of the tour. After breakfast we’ll take off for the short and beautiful ascent over the Chukurak Pass. The trail takes us to the most iconic and picturesque compositional locations overlooking the entire Kuli Kalon lakes with stunning mountains in the background to take pictures. The location is easy to reach, easy to shoot and easy to fall in love with. I would advise you to make a lot of mable photos hereJ. After then we’ll have a long descent to Chuqurak Lake (2450m). The Lunch will be near the lake and afterwards we continue our trail down to Artuch Base Camp (2200m), which was built in 1971 in the Soviet Union period.

Accommodation will be in twin sharing basis rooms. Dinner: 18:00.

 

DAY 7: TRANSFER TO DUSHANBE AND 4 HOUR SIGHTSEEING TOUR (240km, 5hrs)

Today is final day of the tour and it returns back to Dushanbe.  We start our drive early in the morning (07:00) from Artuch to Dushanbe, because we have long -distance road ahead. The long part of the drive travels along Zerafshan and Varzob rivers bank. At lunch time we will arrive in Dushanbe and have our meal in a national restaurant. After the lunch you will discover the best of the Tajik capital’s top attractions with a guide on this half-day trip. Immerse in the culture and architecture of the city as you travel along the Rudaki Avenue starting with a visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Tajikistan, known for the famous Buddha statue in nirvana (14m) toward Kohi Navruz. During the tour you also visit Ismail Somoni Statue (founder of the Samaid dynasty) and walk through Rudaki Park, where a lot of varieties of wonderful flowers bloom from season to season. Our tour will finish in Mehrgon Bazaar - a great place to gain a sense of local life in the city.
