Altai Horse Trail in Western Mongolia, 10 days

Altai Tavan Bogd National Park is the highest spot of mongolia and borders with Russia and China. The landscape view from the top is beautiful and climate condition is very extreme, which means 4 seasons of year can be seen in a one day. We will climb to Malchin peak, where we will be able to see glaciers and beautiful views of other mountain peaks. Furthermore, we will be visiting local nomadic families in valley, which is near to Khoton lake, and fascinating waterfall e.t.c.

Day 1-Arrive in Olgii drive to Ranger station of Altai Mountains.


Fly to Olgii about 2-3 hours and we will be waiting for you at the airport. After breakfast in our restaurant, we will head to Ranger station about 5-6 hours. While heading to west you will see a lot of high mountain ranges, cross rivers and enjoy the landscape. Overnight in ger camp

Day 2-Ride to Base camp.


Altai Tavan Bogd is the highest mountains in Mongolia. It means holy five, like human’s five fingers. There are different 5 peaks and highest peak is the Khuiten is 4374 meter and Malchin is 4054 meter. There are 3 big glaciers, which are the Potanina, Aleksandre, Grane e.t.c and largest of them Potanina is 20km long, 5km wide.
Today we will ride to Base camp about 4-5 hours and you will be able to see the glaciers and mountains. Overnight in tent.

Day 3-Climb to Malchin peak.


Early morning we will climb to Malchin peak about 3-4 hours, these are non-technical climbs. Also will see glaciers closer on the way to Malchin peak. After get to the top, we will downhill to base camp. Overnight.

Day 4-Ride back to Ranger station.


After breafast, we will leave base camp to Ranger station, like last time. Overnight in ger camp.

Day 5-Ride to Harsalaa.


In the morning, we will be riding to Shiveetkhairhan petroglyphs, which is one of the biggest petroglyphs from central Asian petroglyphs. Petroglyphs generally shows ancient nomadic people’s lifestyle like ancient hunters, herders and their weapons e.t.c. Then we will keep riding to Harsalaa valley, which is the home place of many Tuvan people. Overnight in tent.

Day 6-Death Pass.


We will begin our riding through Takhilbay pass, that pass is biggest thing in Tuvan people’s life, because they meet their each season through this pass. Then we will see wild forest and fantastic nature in next valley. We call this by Bear Valley. Today we will stay main part of the valley in our tents.

Day 7-Bear Valley.


Bear valley is very fascinating valley with wild forest, milk river and very beautiful blue lake(but small), which is located top of the mountains. We will ride in this day through this valley and in the eveing, we will get out of from this valley, where our driving team will be waiting for us. Overnight in tents.

Day 8-Waterfall and Local Nomadic Family.


In the morning, we will take driving to amazing waterfall. This great waterfall comes from snowcapped mountain and located below Ikh turgen mountains. There will be amazing chances to shoot photos of waterfall and lanscape view. After the waterfall, we will visit local nomadic family. Overnight in ger camp with family.

Day 9-Drive back to Olgii.


After breakfast leave valley and will drive back to Olgii town. We will visit eagle hunter family and golden eagle along the way. Overnight in ger camp, Olgii.

Day 10-Fly back to UB.


We will take you to airport and you will fly out of Olgii. End of the trip.

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
