DETAILED ABOUT EAGLE FESTIVAL: 2019-October 5-6
Accomodation: Kazakh family and their guests ger
Day 1. Ulaanbaatar
The contrast between ancient traditions and the dawning of a 20th-century democracy is most visible in Ulaanbaatar where traditional gers (felt tents) and Buddhist monasteries coexist with modern high-rises. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by your Four seasons travel guide and transferred to a comfortable, centrally located hotel within walking distance of various museums and shops. After a few hours to rest or stretch your legs, enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Days 2-3. Fly to Ulgii, Kazak family visit
Take a flight to Ulgii that takes 4-5 hours. You will visit the town museum and the mosque. You will continue driving to visit Eagle hunter’s family near Tsengel Hairhan and see their lifestyle. Take part in the eagle training for the festival and hunting. Overnight at the Kazakh ger.
Day 4-5. Trekking in Altai Tavan Bogd National Park
You will trek in the crown of Mongolia, Tavan Bogd Mountains with the highest peak in Mongolia, Mt Huiten-4374m. Making a visit here will mark that you are reached the extreme west and h of Mongolia at the same time. During your journey you will come across prehistoric rock engravings dating back 12,000 years and the ancient Turkish stone men ‘balbal’ which witness the passing of Mongolia’s rich history. Also, Moslem burial tombs made from adobe, with their distinct architectural style. A part of the trek you will ride a horse.
Day 6-7-eagle festival

∣ Traditional parade
∣ All eagle hunters will show their decorated horses and hunting outfits. (This is 1st step of eagle competition)
∣ Calling eagle on arm. ( Eagle will be released from top of mountain, and trainer must meet up eagle from the bottom just among people down. This is second step of competition)
∣ Traditional concert at local theater
∣ Eagle hunters will be dragging death animal skins, but eagle must catch this skin pretending it is real fox or any live animal. ( This is 3rd competition)
∣ There will be other entertaining wild games such as Push Cashy (fighting for death goat body)

Day 8. Hovd
After early breakfast, you will drive to Hovd, a provincial capital of Hovd, via an en-route stop at the lake Tolbo where the famous battle took place in the 1940s between Mongolian army and Chinese Gamin Army. Hovd is the largest town in Western Mongolia, which was initially a military base of Manchu Empire of the17th century. Hovd is also renowned by multi-ethnic culture of Mongolia’s different ethnic groups. The snow dome of Mt Tsambagarav stretches on our way. Also the area is one of the most important fruit growing areas including famous watermelon, mini-apple and organic vegetables.
Day 9. Ulaanbaatar
You will take a flight to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s bustling capital city, which has much to offer its visitors. You can spend your time at boutique shops, trendy restaurants, fashion shows, and folk and pop concerts. Buddhist culture has got strong presence in Ulaanbaatar. Also you could relax at a world class golf course at the foothills of stunning Mt Bogd Uul. In the evening, enjoy folk concert by Tumen Eh Ensemble.
Day 10. Departure for home
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure.

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
