Food: The lunch you will have usually at the local restaurants on the way, the breakfast and the dinner will be cooked by your tour guide. 1.5L mineral water per person a day. Vegan food will be available on request.

Highlights: Discover Great White Lake, Orkhon valley, enjoy its beautiful surrounding, blue sky, learning about Buddhism, Gobi Desert and its mirages, sand dunes and you will be able to experience typical nomadic lifestyle.

Activities: horse and camel riding, going on yak cart, hiking, climbing, visiting monasteries and museums, experience nomad-herder’s daily lifestyle, play traditional game, learn to cook traditional meal.

Itinerary:

Day 1

We will drive to Khugnu Khan mountain. On the way we will visit the Khustai National Park located at 90 km to west from Ulaanbaatar. The National Park was originally set up in 1993 as a nature reserve for the reintroduction of the Prezwalski’s Horse (Takhi) into Mongolia. After watching wild horse at Khustai, we will continue to Khugnu Khan mountain. This area is a unique combination of gobi and sand dunes, forests and rocky mountains. We’ll visit a young nomad family and sleep in the family’s ger.

Day 2

We will drive to Kharkhorin the ancient capital ruin of Great Mongolian Empire. Visit Erdene Zuu the biggest monastery, the main treasure of Mongolian Buddhism. Kharkhorin was established in the valley of Orkhon river in 1220 and it was one of the stops along the legendary Silk Road for 140 years.  Overnight in ger guesthouse.

Day 3

We will drive to the Great White (Terkhiin Tsagaan) Lake and Khorgo Volcano. Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park is protected since 1997 fully to safeguard the spectacular mountain scenery and endangered species of fauna and flora. The area has extinct volcanoes, many beautiful lakes, a great number of animals and birds and it is definitely one of the best natural tourist attractions. Khorgo is unique natural complex (2240 m), National Park surrounded by the Khangai mountains, which reach as 3000 m above the sea level. The Khorgo crater is situated at an altitude of 2.210 m with a diameter of 20 and depth of 70 to 80 m. Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day 4

We will walk around and enjoy the area, go hiking from the lake to the volcano. We will have good opportunity to take lots of nice photos. We will stay in the nomad family’s ger.

Day 5

We will drive to the Tsenkher hot spring. We will enjoy and relax taking a hot bath in evening. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 6

We will drive to Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall located in Orkhon river valley. This is an exciting place for hiking through the gorge and taking photos. It is one of the most beautiful tourist attraction places in the Central Mongolia. We’ll go on a yak cart. Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day7

We will stay here enjoy the day. We will ride a horse for hole day. Will get some experience of nomadic daily lifestyle. We’ll play traditional ankle bone shooting game. Overnight in same family ger.

Day 8

We will drive to Ongiin Khiid where you can see the ruins of a big monastery on the bank of the Ongiin river. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 9

After breakfast we will drive to Bayanzag (means “rich in saxaul shrubs”), known as the Flaming Cliffs for its spectacular ochre red colors. It was given this name by American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews, who made discoveries of the first-known fossil dinosaur eggs in the 1920s. We will go hiking and discover the area. We will have some scenic photo opportunities. We’ll learn to cook a traditional mongolian meal. Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day 10

After breakfast we will drive to reach the boundaries of the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan (Three Beauties of the Gobi) National Park. In the afternoon we will arrive at Khongoriin Els sand dunes. The marvelous dunes that stretch 180 km long and 7-20 km wide. The sound of the wind howling through the dunes can be heard from the long distance.  This sound is so melodic, so 200 m high, 20 km wide and 180 km long dunes called as “Singing Dunes”. There is an oasis called Khongor river with stunning greenery in the summer. The area offers some spectacular views of the desert. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 11

Today we will not drive. We will have an opportunity to ride two humped Bactrian camels which are called only remained “Dinosaurs” in the Gobi and named by locals “Prince of Gobi”. During the day we will have a chance to recognize camel breeder’s everyday lifestyle and be part of it too. In the evening, climbing to sand dune to see the most memorable sunset in Gobi Desert. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 12

Drive to Yoliin Am (Vulture’s Mouth) canyon. Discover the majestic Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park and its flora and fauna. The incredible “Yol Valley” is the unusual narrow canyon of a river. The sheer rock walls stand 200 m and the canyon has stunning green meadows with thick glacier layer that is deeply set between the walls. During the summer rainfall water runs from the top of the wall forming waterfall. We will walk along the canyon and may have an opportunity to glimpse rarely found wild sheep Argali, mountain goat Ibex and Lammergeier Vultures. In the canyon there is the “eternal ice” that usually remains for whole summer.  Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day 13

After breakfast, we will drive to Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa), the great canyon that appears like ancient cities and places in the beauty of the great Gobi Desert. The cliff is 30 m high and 100 m wide. Over thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure. Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day 14

At 9.00, we will drive to Baga Gazariin Chuluu, the beautiful granite rock formation, located in the middle of the dusty plain. The highest peak is 1750 m above the sea level. It is spread out from west to east covering about 30 km. This rock mountain contains ruins of Buddhist meditation temple that belonged 17th century. Overnight in tourist camp.

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
