It’s a lovely trip along the Georgian Military Highway slipping along the  picturesque Dariali Gorge in direction to Russian Border.  At  all  historical times  till  now the road has important meaning  for Georgia.

  •  The first stop on the way will  be near Zhinvali Water Reservoire. The place that charms with water beauty! Here you can take a lovely pictures!
  • Leaving the Zhinvali Water Reservoire travel less than 15 min to Ananuri Fortress. Here you can take a journey through the history of 16-17th Century . The Fortress contains a temple of the Dormision of the Blessed Virgin Mary and an ancient tower of the 13th cent. The place is full of intrigue,  legends and history. Once upon a time it was one of the strongest fortresses in the country . In medieval times, the site was the scene of battles, even between Georgian rulers. The  Ananuri Fortress opens your eyes to an amazing view of the Zhinvalis Water Reservoir.
  •   Leaving the Ananuri Fortress we travel to the Black and White Aragvi River  which is not far from a small settlement Pasanauri . There is your opportuity to enjoy traditional Georgian dishes  , such as khinkali  (considered the best cooked in this  part of the country)   and many others in one of the restaurants on the way.
  •  From a car park take a path to the Arch of Georgian -Russian Friendship . With stamina and nerves of steel you can stand on its vertiginous summit and observe the power and beauty of the  mountains.
  •  Drive through the Dariali Gorge  takes you on discover another great place ,a small   Stepantsminda Village ( St.Stephan)  where locates  gorgeous Kazbegi Mountain (5 ,033m). • We will take a Delica 4x4 Jeep  (in case of bad weather )to drive us up to the summit of Gergeti Mountain. On the top of the mountain near the Holy Trinity Monastery (XIV C.), you can take a stroll along the cliff’s edge and contemplate how tiny everything looks from above. The view from Gergeti Monastery on a clear day is stunning - from one side you can see the village below like the size of your hand and on the other side, the gorgeous Kazbegi Mountain.

Day 2  - Inspiring Kakheti

(Tbilisi – Tsinandali House Museum   - Shumi Winery – Bodbe Monastery – Signagi – Tbilisi)

We begin the day with a drive out of the city to the east of Georgia,  Kakheti Region .

Once it was an independent kingdom of Georgia but nowadays it is a kingdom of endless vineyards, picturesque Great Caucasus Mountains , old traditions and mysterious dead cities. This is the kingdom of testiest wines and silent sadness of monasteries. THANKS TO THE WOMEN AND MEN WHO THROW THEIR HEARTS, HEADS AND SOULS INTO THEIR WORK YEAR ROUND  we  can observe amazing  vineyards

  • Our first stop  will be in Tsinandali House – Museum . Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, the founder of the Georgian romanticism turned the estate in the village of Tsinandali, which he inherited from his father into cultural and intellectual center of the country, the status it preserves to this day. We offer you a pleasurable and informative experience: you will look into the background of the noble Chavchavadze family, who played a significant part in the national history. The landscape garden in Tsinandali is the first European-type recreation zone in Georgia. The garden is unique for its exotic plants and layout. In it, there is “the love lane”. The legend says that if lovers can walk though it with their eyes shut, their life together will be happy.
  •  Georgia is incomplete without visiting one of Georgian wine factories where you can sip traditional Georgian wine! We propose you to visit “Shumi”Winery . Wander around the vineyard at any time of year to see the vines used to grow grapes for the wine. Also, you can attend local museum where friendly guide will introduce you the history of the wine producing and the way they use it. On a tour, you'll see all of the different aspects of the production process .
  • Qvevri wine-making is practised throughout Georgia, particularly in village communities where unique varieties of grapes are grown. The Qvevri is an egg-shaped earthenware vessel used for making, ageing and storing the wine.

NOTE! Georgia's traditional winemaking method has been added to the world heritage list of the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organisation (UNESCO).

  • As we leave Winery Shumi we  continue our route in direction to Bodbe Monastery .  It is nested among tall Cypress trees on a steep hillside overlooking the Alazani Valley, where it commands views of the Greater Caucasus mountains. The extant church was originally built between the 9th and 11th centuries, but has been significantly modified since then. Some 3 km from the convent, a small Chapel of St. Zabulon and St. Sosana was constructed, in the 1990s, to house a St. Nino’s Spring, which, according to a local legend, emerged through Nino’s prayers and is believed to have a healing power.
  • Just a short distance from the Bodbe Monastery we move in direction to charming  hill town  Signagi   or City of Lovers (24/7 available Wedding House). It is surrounded by the famous Alazni Valley.  It is one of the finest examples of a Georgian medieval city. Signaghi boasts one of the biggest fortresses in Georgia, built for protection the city in time of enemies invasions, whose original walls protecting the town remain standing today.

With the tour at an end we return to our vehicle for the journey back to Tbilisi. With an estimated time of arrival 19:00hrs  ( Subject to traffic conditions )
