Trip to Gobi - 8 days

Accommodation: 3 nights in tent and 4 nights in family’s ger

Food: The lunch we will have at the local finest restaurants, the breakfast and the dinner will be cooked by your tour guide.  1.5 L mineral water per person a day

Highlights:  climb up the rock formation, to Sand dunes, visit a camel breeding family and feel their lifestyle, camel riding, enjoy the sunset and sunrise in the Gobi, hike through Yol Yalley.

Day 1

At 9.00, we will drive to Baga Gazariin Chuluu, the beautiful granite rock formation, located in the middle of the dusty plain. The highest peak is 1750 m above the sea level. It is spread out from west to east covering about 30 km. This rock mountain contains ruins of Buddhist meditation temple that belonged 17th century. Overnight in tent.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will drive to Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa), the great canyon that appears like ancient cities and places in the beauty of the great Gobi Desert. The cliff is 30 m high and 100 m wide. Over thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure. Overnight in ger or in tent.

Day 3

Drive to Yoliin Am (Vulture’s Mouth) canyon. Discover the majestic Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park and its flora and fauna. The incredible “Yol Valley” is the unusual narrow canyon of a river. The sheer rock walls stand 200 m and the canyon has stunning green meadows with thick glacier layer that is deeply set between the walls. During the summer rainfall water runs from the top of the wall forming waterfall. We will walk along the canyon and may have an opportunity to glimpse rarely found wild sheep Argali, mountain goat Ibex and Lammergeier Vultures. In the canyon there is the “eternal ice” that usually remains for whole summer.  Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day 4

After breakfast we will drive to reach the boundaries of the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan (Three Beauties of the Gobi) National Park. In the afternoon we will arrive at Khongoriin Els sand dunes. The marvelous dunes that stretch 180 km long and 7-20 km wide. The sound of the wind howling through the dunes can be heard from the long distance.  This sound is so melodic, so 200 m high, 20 km wide and 180 km long dunes called as “Singing Dunes”. There is an oasis called Khongor river with stunning greenery in the summer. The area offers some spectacular views of the desert. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 5

Today we will not drive.  We will have an opportunity to ride two humped Bactrian camels which are called only remained “Dinosaurs” in the Gobi and named by locals “Prince of Gobi”. During the day we will have a chance to recognize camel breeder’s everyday lifestyle and be part of it too. In the evening, climbing to sand dune to see the most memorable sunset in Gobi Desert. Overnight in tourist camp.

Day 6

After breakfast we will drive to Bayanzag (means “rich in saxaul shrubs”), known as the Flaming Cliffs for its spectacular ochre red colors. It was given this name by American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews, who made discoveries of the first-known fossil dinosaur eggs in the 1920s. We will go hiking and discover the area. We will have some scenic photo opportunities. We’ll learn to cook a traditional mongolian meal. Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day 7

Drive forward to UB and on the way spend a night near the Zorgol Khairkhan Mountain. The mountain is venerated and revered by the local people, who believe that is the siege of a great, benevolent spirit. There are many caves and water springs here. Also there are many burials of ancient Mongols. Overnight in nomad family’s ger.

Day 8

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar.

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
