SACRED SHAMBHALA LAND BY TRAIN, 4 Days
Dornogobi (Eastern Gobi) province is located in the southeast of the country and borders with China and located in the Gobi Desert zone. Sand dunes Burden Gashuun, Tsagaan Els and Tavan Tolgoi stretch along the border of the aimag (province). Dornogobi has mineral springs, such as those at Khalzan Uul, near r city. Dornogobi province has argali wild mountain sheep, ibex, wild ass, black-tailed gazelle, white gazelle and lynx. Dornogobi has a population of over 50,000. Sainshand, the capital of Dornogobi, located 470km south-east from Ulaanbaatar, is on the Trans-Mongolian railway line. The main attraction of the region is Khamriin Khiid Monastery, founded by the famous mystic, writer, composer, physician and poet of the 19th century, NoyonKhutagt Danzanravjaa. The monastery was destroyed during the purge of 1930s and today a new functioning monastery stands on the ground of the old monastery. The Sacred Shambhala land is said to energize the visitors and purify them from their sins after a special ritual. Visit caves where Danzanravjaa and this disciples meditated isolated from the rest of the wordl for long periods of time. Dinosaur fossils and eggs are found in the area.
Day 1 Ulaanbaatar - Sainshand, Dornogobi province Train to Gobi:
Train departs at 9:30 or 16:30 to Sainshand, Dornogobi. Check in to the camp located 30km from the town of Sainshand. (L/D)
Day 2 Dornogobi province:
After breakfast at the camp, visit a local camel-breeding family. Explore the local landscape on a back of Bactrian two humped camel. Visit the local sand dunes. After lunch, drive to the Black Mountain of Wish where, according to the local legend spirit of the III reincarnation of Saint Danzanravjaa resides granting wishes to the people. Men are, according to the tradition, allowed to reach the top of the Mountain to circle the Ovoo of the Mongolian streppes. Dinner and overnight stay in ger camp (B/L/D)
Day 3 Dornogobi province:
Cultural tour 'Heritage of Noble Saint Danzagravjaa'. Visit the caves where Buddhist monks used to meditate for 108 consecutive days. Drive to sacred land Shambala (eight different types of stupas). Attend a Buddhist ceremony at the historic Khamriin Khiid monastery. The Khamriin Khiid monastery was the only major center of Red Hat sect of Buddhism in Mongolia. The Red Hat sect taught equality between the men and women and supported education to people of all ages and social status. After lunch, head back to Sainshand, visit the Museum of Danzanravjaa where many intriguing artifacts whose worth cannot be measured in wealth reside. Departure to Ulaanbaatar by train. (B/L/D)

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
