Guided Tour to Kol Suu, Tash Rabat, Song Kol, and Issyk Kul

Alex at Indy Guide team would like to introduce you to a fascinating region perched in the middle of Tien Shan. Kyrgyzstan, a country of nomads in the due heart of Central Asia, offers largely unexplored mountains with a splendid playground for all nature- and virgin-land-lovers. The Kyrgyz people who have preserved its tradition of hospitality live peacefully in a surprising variety of landscapes and have made this country the pearl of Central Asia with steppes, prairies, deserts, and also canyons, high alpine valleys, and lakes with turquoise waters. In summer, as well as in winter times, Alex at Indy Guide invites you to unpublished programs.

Day 1 – Bishkek to Rot-Front
-       Once everyone lands in Bishkek your guide will meet you at the airport and welcome you to Kyrgyzstan.
-       Since most flights land at 3 am everyone will be able to unpack their bags and take a rest at a guesthouse in Bishkek.
-       At 10:00 am breakfast will be ready and your guide give you an overview of Kyrgyzstan and about the places, you will see Kyrgyzstan. 
-       Once everyone is ready you will head out of the city and take the scenic route to the old German village of Rot-Front. 
-       Once you arrive at the Farm Guesthouse your hosts will great you with warm tea and bread.
-       It’s possible to have a walk through the small village and take a short hike to the yurt camp near the mountains.

Day 2 – Bishkek to Shaar Valley
-       After breakfast, everyone will pack their bags and start the journey through countless mountain passes with breathtaking views.
-       The first stop of the day will be in the regional center of the Kochkor area.  Where you will be able to meet with local artisans and learn how they are making national handy crafts.
-       Lunch will be in the yurt where you will be able to enjoy some of the best local dishes from the region.
-       After lunch, the next stop will be at a hidden waterfall where everyone will be able to stretch their legs and discover the mysteries of the waterfall.
-       The last stop for the day will be at the yurt camp in the valley of Shaar where you will be hosted by a local family.

Day 3 – Shaar Valley to Kok Kyia
-       After breakfast, the adventure will start with a drive to the Kok Kyia valley. 
-       The first stop will be at the military checkpoint so make sure to have your passport handy.
-       The next stop will be at a panoramic view of the whole area.  Where you can see the runes from the first Czarist military base in the area.
-       A picnic lunch will be shared at the panoramic point with a great view of the whole region.
-       After lunch, you will arrive at Meder’s Yurt camp where his family will greet you with tea and bread.
-       After dinner, it’s possible to take a short hike to the summit of the nearby mountain to get a great view of the area and to see the Kol Suu lake in the distance.

Day 4 – Horseback riding to the Kol Suu lake
-       After breakfast, we'll jump on the back of a horse and head to the stunning Kel Suu lake.
-       Horseback riding will last 2-3 hours from the Yurt Camp to the edge of the Kol Suu Lake.  The Kol Suu lake is in a natural dam lying between vertiginous sharp cliffs. Keep an eye out for birds of prey in this area, as well as ibex, foxes, and marmots. 
-       The lake has been dry since June 2018 and it's a very mysterious lake and everyone hopes it will fill again in the spring of 2019. 
-       If there is no water in the lake everyone will hike across the empty river bed.  If the lake is full of water everyone will inflate your pack raft and start padding on Kol Suu lake. Kel Suu lake is 15km long and 40m wide at its narrowest point. You will be able to see massive 800m cliffs that will meet you at the edges of the lake.

Day 5 – Trekking into the wild near the “Five Boys Valley”
-       After an early start, we will head towards the “Five Boys Valley”, which very close to the boarder of China. 
-       Today is created as an exploring day to reach a peak or to enjoy the alpine valleys.  Since this is a remote and infrequently visited place, you will be able to discover new trekking paths or follow the paths of ibex goats.
-       Dinner will be had back at the camp.

Hiking time: ~5-6 hours ~15 km
Accommodation: In tents near Chong Tash on east side of Kol Suu lake.
 
Day 6 – Hiking from Kel Suu lake back to Kok Kyia
-       After breakfast, you will be able to summit the Eshegart pass at 3933m and descend into the Tuyuk Boto Valley.
-       If you are quite while trekking you might be able to see wildlife in this very remote and wild region.  The view from the Eshegart pass will give you a great view of the Kel Suu lake and the view towards China.
-       In the late afternoon, you will arrive back at the Meder’s yurt camp where you will be greeted with cups of warm tea and great local dishes.

Day 7 – Kol Suu to Tash Rabat Caravanserai
-       After leaving Meder’s yurt camp, you will drive via the Torugart pass on your way to Tash Rabat Carananserai.
-       The first stop will be near the Torugart pass where you will be able to look east and see China with your own eyes.
-       The road that you are traveling on is the actual silk road and you will be able to feel like a traveler on the Great Silk Road.
-       Before arriving in Tash Rabat turn your watch back to the 15th century and explore the Silk Road Caravanserai.
-       After counting all the rooms in the Tash Rabat Caravanserai your hosts Narzira will great you with tea and bread at here Yurt Camp.
-       It’s possible to hire a Russian style sauna where you can wash up after all the days in the mountains.

Day 8 – Tash Rabat to Song Kol
-       Leaving the Nazira’s Yurt Camp you will take the back roads to Song Kol lake.
-       The first stop will be in the small village of Baetovo to have a look around the bazaar to meet with local sellers.  Don’t forget to ask for a cup of kumis or try some other local candies.
-       A picnic lunch will be had on the way before arriving at Backet’s Yurt Camp.
-       Once you arrive in Song Kol lake you will be able to meet Backet’s family and share a tea with his kids.
-       Before dinner, it’s possible to have a short hike to the lake or to trek up to the panoramic point behind the yurt camp.

Day 9 – Song Kol to Bokonbayevo
-       After an early breakfast, everyone will be able to pack their bags and make their way to the 2nd largest alpine lake in the world Issyk Kul lake.
-       The first stop of the day will be the Kalmak Ashu pass which makes for a great place to stretch your legs and admire the view from the pass.
-       Lunch will be had with a local family in Kochkor before heading to Issyk Kul lake.
-       Once you arrive at the Bel Tom Yurt Camp on the shores of Issyk Kul Aidia Eje will great you with tea and bread.
-       It’s possible to spend the late afternoon on the beach and jump into lake Issyk Kul for a swim.

Day 10 – Bokonvayevo to Fairytale Canyons to Bokonbayevo
-       For the early risers in the group don’t miss out on the sunrise over the Issyk Kul Lake from the doors of your yurt.
-       After breakfast, everyone will be able to stretch their legs and head to Fairytale Canyons where you will be able to enjoy a 2-hour hike though the sand canyons full of legends.
-       After trekking in Fairytale canyons, a late lunch will be shared with Aitbek’s family near the mountains.  Aitebek is an Eagle Hunter that will show you his Golden Eagle and Kyrgyz Taigan hunting dogs that he uses to hunt foxes, wolves, and rabbits.
-       Aitebek will show you how he is working with his Golden Eagle and you will be able to join in on a hunt to see it for yourself.
-       After having a tea with Aitebek’s family you will be able to head back to the Issyk Kul to enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the beach before dinner.

Day 11 – Bokonvayevo to Bishkek
-       After a large breakfast, you will make your way back to Bishkek with a few stops along the way.
-       The first stop on the way will be in the Manjyly-Ata valley, it’s a small village where everyone is building all the components for the Yurt.
-       You will learn how to build your own yurt and discover how the yurts are made.
-       Lunch will be had on the way back to Bishkek in Boom Gorge where you will be able to see the large mountains that reach to the sky.
-       The next stop is will be the Burana Tower which is a rune from the 10th century that was a large city on the silk road.  The Burana Tower is full of local legends from the days of the Silk Road.
-       After exploring the Burana Tower you will drive back to Bishkek and arrive at your guesthouse.
-       Once everyone unpacks and is ready you will be able to explore the city of Bishkek and try many amazing local dishes at a Kyrgyz ethnic café.

Day 12 - Bishkek flight home
-       After an early breakfast, everyone will be transferred to the airport as a group.
-       We hope that everyone enjoyed their time here in Kyrgyzstan and tells their friends about all the interesting things you saw on the way.
