Eagle festival and Gobi 13-14 days

This 13 days tour to Mongolia covers the most interesting cultural and historical sides of Mongolia. Central part of Mongolia: Ulaanbatar, heart of Mongolia, Karakhorum old capital city of Mongolia, National Parks, religious monuments and places, nomadic people and their traditional life style. The most Western part of Mongolia: Wild nature and life, Kazakh’s Hunting with Golden Eagle, nomadic life and more. Mongolia: The Land of Blue Sky, is one of the last nomadic country in the world! Tour guides, cook, drivers, camel and horse rangers will accompany the group.

Day 1. Ulaanbaatar, capital city of Mongolia

Arrive to Ulaanbaatar, capital city of Mongolia.  Drivers then transfer to your Hotel in UB. After check in from hotel we will do quick introduction about the trip itinerary for the upcoming days. Depending from your arrival time to UB city we will do city tour. Overnight at hotel. (lunch, dinner)

Day 2, . Early flight to Ulgii  After lunch drive to Taban Bogd National park. Along the way, we will find numerous petroglyphs and Turkic stones. Bayan-Ulgii is rich in archaeological remains, as a reminder of the Bronze Age and the time of the Huns and Turkic invasions. Reach to Ger camp. Overnight in Kazakh or Mongolian ger. 

Day 3, . TavanBogd massif (17 km ride up and down)

Today we will ride horse towards the Base Camp of Altai Tavan Bogd Mountains. Here we can see the glaciers and TavanBogd massif. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five", referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. There we see 20km long Potanina glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Overnight in Kazakh or Mongolian ger. 

Day 4, . Drive back towards Ulgii on the way we will visit Kazakh Eagle Hunter’s family. See the magnificent eagles and learn about eagle-hunting. Eagle-hunters typically use female birds because they are bigger, stronger, and more aggressive than their male counterparts. Hunters typically keep their birds for 10 years before releasing them back into the wild. Overnight with Eagle Hunter’s family.

Day 5-6.(1-2 nd of October)  or (6-7 th October)Hunting with Golden Eagle on horseback

GOLDEN EAGLE FESTIVAL. Homestay of Nomadic Kazakh Family.

The festival begins with eagle hunters’ parade and each hunter displaying the hunting outfits and elaborate, beautifully adorned accessories. Later, the hunting eagles are evaluated for their skills. This event represents the very essence of the culture of nomadic Kazakhs and if you like to have once-in-life experience. 

During this festival there is many traditional Kazakh besides eagle hunting:

- Buskashi: goat skin pulling game

- Kiz Kuar: chasing game on horseback between men and girls.

- Tenge ilu: picking up coins from the ground

And after festival you will visit to the Eagle hunter`s family.

Day 7. After early breakfast, drive to Khovd province. On the way we enjoy beautiful Tsambagarab Altay montain and take photos Overnight in gercamp or Hotel

Day 8 Drive to Gobi Altai Province. Overnight in a hotel

Day 9 DRIVE TO KHONGORIIN ELS SAND DUNES

After having breakfast, we will drive to the sand dunes called Khongoriin Els. The Khongoriin Els sand dunes lie north of the Baruunsaikhan Mountain in the northern part of the Sevrei and Zuulun Mountains. The Khongoriin Els is one of the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia and they are up to 200m high, 12km wide and about 100km long. The largest dunes are at the northwest corner of the range. You can climb to the top of the sand dunes and then slide back down on the plastic bags. The views of the desert from the top are wonderful. Climbing to the top of the dunes during the sunset gives you an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding desert, to the north lies the Khongoriin River.

CLIMBING TO THE SAND DUNES

We can possibly arrange some optional camelback riding around the sand dunes before the lunch time. After having lunch at the family we will climb and hike to the top of the biggest sand dunes. We will stay overnight in a family ger tonight. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) 

Day 10. DRIVE TO YOLIIN AM /YOL VALLEY/& GOLDEN EAGLE VALLEY

After having breakfast at the family, we will start driving to Yoliin Am, which is a deep narrow gorge in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains of the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, covering 70 sq.kms. There is a small natural museum at the entrance of the National park which exhibits a collection of dinosaur eggs, bones, stuffed birds and snow leopard. This place is also very rich by the rare plants.

After we seeing the museum at the entrance we will drive about 10kms to get to the car parking where we leave our car there and walk a head to the ice gorge and stream for a several kms. In the winter time, the stream freezes several kms into the gorge. It remains frozen for most of the year, except late summer. We will see the ice gorge until end of the July. The ice remains usually disappear around early August.

On the way we get to the Yoliin Am we will stop for a lunch in a huge flat steppe. Once we wandering around the gorge, we will get back to our car and drive to the campsite we will stay there for tonight. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

Day 11. FULL DAY DRIVING TO THE DALANZADGAD, UMNUGOVI PROVINCE

On today, we drive full day drive out to the Dalanzadgad town. Full day driving will be around 7-8hours. Stay overnight at Local Hotel. /Lunch& Dinner/

Day 13 Back  to UB

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
