Take a culture trip to Agra, to explore its fabulous architectural gems. Visit the iconic Taj Mahal and the magnificent Agra Fort.
WRJ Holidays takes you on a tour of the grandest structures of architectural brilliance in Agra. Meet your chauffeur in your hotel lobby, who will drive you to the iconic Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays). Recognized the world, over as a symbol of eternal love of an emperor for his queen, the Taj Mahal was ed by Emperor Shah Jahan for Mumtaz Mahal. This structure of white marble goodness is the most brilliant example of Mughal architecture. Such was the foresight of the architect Ustad Ahmed Lahauri that he designed the four minarets to tilt outwards to prevent them from falling on the main ‘gumbaz’ or dome in the event of a natural disaster, like an earthquake. Twenty- semi precious, rare, and precious stones sourced from India, Sri Lanka, Tibet and China were used in the inlay work of the Taj. After being awe-struck by the beauty of the Taj, we head to yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Agra Fort. Built by Emperor Akbar to serve as a military structure, the Agra Fort was transformed into a palace by Shah Jahan. Did you know that the iconic Kohinoor diamond was first cast in Shah Jahan’s throne at the Agra Fort? The fort is home to several exquisite buildings such as the Moti Masjid, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khaas, Jahangir’s Palace, and the Sheesh Mahal. There is also the Musamman Burj, the place where Shah Jahan died after Emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned him to take over as the Mughal Emperor. Your tour concludes after The Agra Fort visit when we drop you off at your hotel.
