K-2 view Khaplu trek

K2 view Khaplu lake trek is also known as Ghanche khenpi xo which is one of the finest trek in the last North District of Pakistan. Khaplu town is the capital which is situated in the heart of Karakorum range. The lake view trek is an easy three days hiking from Garbochung village of Khaplu. The trek follows stream water coming from the upper Chopa glaciers. Trekking on the picturesque and attractive Berkat lum (path) you will view the world high mountains while before reaching at the lake, you will glance the stunning view of world 2nd highest mountain K-2, Broad peak (Falchan Kungari) and other bewitching peaks of Karakorum. It is also possible to have some climbing experience on the surrounding trekking peaks.

The Karakoram Highway

The Karakoram Highway is considered the highest paved international road in the world. Tracing one of the many pathways of the ancient Silk Road, the KKH is often called the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World‘ due to its high elevation and the difficult conditions in which it was constructed.

Start point: Main Entrance, Islamabad (ISB) International Airport Pakistan.

Day 1: Arrival Islamabad

Welcome and receiving at Islamabad International airport and shifted to the Hotel. Here meet with the group and during the day visit to the famous bazaars, Mosque and other places in Islamabad depending on time.

Day 2: Fly to Skardu

Given good weather we will fly to Skardu (perhaps the most spectacular commercial flight in the world, with magnificent views of Nanga Parbat the 9th highest mountain in the world. If the weather doesn’t allow the flight we take the Karakorum Highway on the old silk route. 

 
Day 3: Drive to Khaplu (2 hours)
 Drive to Khaplu, Hire porters and prepare for the trek.

 
Day 4:Trek to Siddiq camp
 Today, early morning we start our first day hike following the streams water coming from the upper Chopa glaciers and lake. The trek is steep but easy to walk for around 3-4 hours and finally reach at Saddiq camp where you will meet the locals grazing their cows and buffalos.

 
Day 5:Trek to Ghangchey Lake Hamid Camp
 Today, we will trek towards the lake passing by the beautiful pastures and amazing views of the Karakorum high mountains including K2, Broad Peak, Gashabrum range , Mashabrum range, Baltoro kungri and many more hidden peaks. Tonight, we will fix our tents at Hamid Camp and enjoy a singing and BBQ party.

 
Day 6: Climb Chopa Glacier and relax day
 Today is an optional day with the choice of Climbing Chopa glacier. Ghanchey lake is sourrounded by pictursque glaciers known as Chopa glacier. Chopa is an adventure traveller who is found of natural beauty and always willing to promote tourism in the region. In 2014, he actually lead a team of friends and discovered this K2 view amazing short trek for the adventure enthusiasts in Khaplu town. On this day, you can also explore another amazing lakes and hidden mountains in the surroundings and come back at Hamid camp/Ghanchey lake.

 
Day 7: Trek back to Khaplu & drive to Skardu
 Today, we will ascend for Khaplu and drive to Skardu. It may take around 4 hours to ascend from Hamid Camp to Khaplu town. After teas or lunch break at Khaplu, we will drive for Skardu.

 
Day 8: Drive on Karakorum Highway
 We complete to Chilas our journey in around 12 hours passing Nanga Parbat and the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. You will look back in awe and reflect on what an amazing civil engineering achievement the Karakoram Highway was in its time. 

 
Day 9: Drive to islamabad

Today,you will have crossed the point where four great continental plates come together forming four of the world’s greatest mountain ranges (Himalaya, Karakoram, Hindukush the Pamir. Finally arrive to Islamabd.


Day 10: Contingencey Day

We always keep one reserve day for possible delays or road blockages. If left unused, we will arrange a visit to Taxila historical museum and a half day Islamabad tour.

 
Day 11: Fly to your home
 Today, we will drive for Islamabad via beautiful Kaghan and Naran valley. After the dinner, will drop you at the Islamabad International airport for Homebound flight.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
