Gobustan National Park - Azerbaijan’s Historical Landmark
Located 64 km (40 miles) from Baku and on the west bank of Caspian Sea, Gobustan National Park was declared a national historical landmark of Azerbaijan in 1966 to preserve the relics, ancient carvings, mud volcanoes, and the gas-stones in its area.
The park has an immense archaeological value gathering rock art engravings and petroglyphs that represent lifestyles of the prehistoric times. More than 6,000 rock engravings dating back to 5,000 – 4,000 years! Gobustan National Park also features the remains of inhabited caves, settlements, and burials.
Remembering that Azerbaijan is the country with most mud volcanoes in the world, Gobustan National Park is a smart choice to combine a day trip alongside the petroglyphs and prehistoric relics.
Excursion will be finalised with a drop-off at your hotel/place. End of the tour.
