Georgia Azerbaijan combined tour in Winter

Day 1: Arrival – Tbilisi, Georgia

o    Arrival to Tbilisi, meet and greet at the airport

o    Transfer to hotel, check in the hotel

o    Overnight in Tbilisi

 

Day 2: Tbilisi City Tour – Mtatsminda Park

o    Breakfast in the hotel

o    10:00 starting the tour

o    It is time to explore Tbilisi city tour, visiting main attractions of the city:

o    Holy Trinity Church – the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi. Constructed between 1995 and 2004, it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area. Sameba is a synthesis of traditional styles dominating the Georgian church architecture at various stages in history and has some Byzantine undertones.

o    Metekhi plateau with the view on Old Town. Virgin Mary Metekhi church is located on the left bank of the river Mtkvari, on the cliff plateau, the first church on this place was probably built by Vakhtang Gorgasali symbolically resembling the church built on virgin Mary’s tomb in Gethsemane garden in Jerusalem.

o    Rike park and Bridge of Peace (The glass bridge). It is a pedestrian glass and steel bridge in a bow-shaped design that sits over the Mtkvari (Kura) river in Georgian capital. It was officially opened in May 2010. The bridge was brought to Georgia from Italy in 200 unassembled components. The bridge is 156 meters long and has more than 10 000 LED bulbs built-in, that are switched on daily 90 minutes before the sunset.

o    Narikala Fortress – the main landmark of Tbilisi, ancient fort defending city and opening breathtaking views of the capital. Also called the Mother Fortress of Tbilisi, Narikala is an ancient symbol of Tbilisi’s defence. The fortress was established in the 4th century, around the period when the city itself was founded.

o    Abanotubani (baths district) – the oldest district of the capital where it’s history starts from. Located at the eastern bank of the Mtkvari River at the foot of Narikala fort across Metekhisubani.

o    Leghvtakhevi waterfall – beautiful nature wonder in the heart of old city.

o    Mtatsminda Park – the holy mountain with amusement park opening beautiful view of Tbilisi. The park has carousels, water slides, a roller-coaster, funicular, and a big Ferris Wheel at the edge of the mountain, offering a splendid view over the city.

o    Tour will be finished around 17:00

o    Overnight in Tbilisi

 

Day 3: Tbilisi – Ananuri – Gudauri – Tbilisi

o    Breakfast in the hotel

o    10:00 starting the tour

o    Ananuri complex, a former residence of Argveti Dukes. Complex featuring churches and towers dating back to the 16-17th centuries is beautifully overlooking Jinvali reservoir.

o    Drive further to see the conjunction of two small mountain rivers famous for keeping different colors even after they merge. After a short stop at Soviet time “People’s Friendship” mountain view point, at about 12:30 you will reach Gudauri, the mountain ski resort on southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains at the h of 2000 m above sea level.

o    Place offers a cable car; where you will enjoy the views of the skiing slopes and snowy mountains.

o    The place offers sleds rental and professional instructor services.

o    Return back to Tbilisi  around 18:00-19:00

o    Overnight in Tbilisi

 

Day 4: Tbilisi – Red Bridge – Baku 

o    Breakfast in the hotel

o    Transfer to Red Bridge border where guests will be met by Azerbaijan guide

o    Departure to Baku, check in the hotel upon arrival

o    Overnight in Baku

 

Day 5: Baku City tour – Absheron 

o    Breakfast in the hotel

o    10:00 starting the tour

o    Highland park, well known as ‘’Viewing Square’’ is one of the most favorite places in Baku to have walk, rest, and enjoy the sea view.

o    Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum displays Azerbaijani carpets and rug items of various weaving techniques and materials from various periods. It has the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets in the world.

o    The Boulevard along the Caspian is a beautiful, several kilometer long parkway that is a real gem of the city. Baku Boulevard is a promenade established in 1909 which runs parallel to Baku's seafront. Its history goes back more than 100 years, to a time when Baku oil barons built their mansions along the Caspian shore and when the seafront was artificially built up inch by inch.

o    Little Venice” in Baku Boulevard is a small town built in 1960. The town has two large and several small islands, which are connected by decorative stone bridges, and gondolas can be seen travelling in the channels full of still and clean water.

o    Lunch break

o    Drive to the Baku Ateshgah often called the "Fire Temple of Baku" is a castle-like religious temple in Surakhani town, a suburb in Baku. The pentagonal complex, which has a courtyard surrounded by cells for monks and a tetrapillar-altar in the middle, was built during the 17th and 18th centuries. It was abandoned in the late 19th century, probably due to the dwindling of the Indian population in the area. The natural eternal flame went out in 1969, after nearly a century of exploitation of petroleum and gas in the area, but is now lit by gas piped from the nearby city.

o    Yanar Dag or burning mountain is a natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula. Flames jet into the air 3 metres from a thin, porous sandstone layer

o    Central Park

o    Tour will be finished around 18:00

o    Overnight in Baku

 

Day 6: Baku – Shahdag – Baku

o    Breakfast in the hotel

o    Departure to Shahdag

o    The Shahdag tourism complex, the first ski resort in Azerbaijan, is located in the northeast in Shahdag National Park, named after the iconic Mount Shahdag in the Gusar region of Azerbaijan. Shahdag has pistes both for beginners and real professionals  – 14 ski slopes of varying levels of complexity stretch 17 kilometres. Each trail is prepared with the help of artificial snow generators, which prolongs the ski season longer and improves the quality of the pistes.

o    In Shahdag there are activities like: skiing, horse riding, zip line, riding snowmobile and cable car

o    Drive back to Baku

o    Tour will be finished around evening time

o    Overnight in Baku

 

Day 7: Baku – Departure

o    Breakfast in the hotel

o    Check out and transfer to airport

o    Farewell to Azerbaijan

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
