13 days adventure trip in Kyrgyzstan including trekking and horseback riding

This adventure trip around Kyrgyzstan includes visiting the most beautiful places of our homeland. You will have a chance to get acquainted with the life of nomadic people and their traditions, cuisine and folklore.

Activities: horseback riding, trekking to the mountains and experience the culture of Kyrgyz people.
Recommended list of the personal items: warm clothes, a coat, trekking boots, sleeping bag, mat, rucksack and sunglasses.

Day 1: Airport Manas (Bishkek)-Yssyk-Kul (Cholpon-Ata) (291 km, 191 miles) 

Pick up at the airport or guesthouse in Bishkek then transfer to Cholpon-Ata. On the way visit Burana tower, which marks the original site of the Karakhanid town, Balasagun. After lunch in Boom gorge 3 hours easy trekking to Konorchek canyon. Then continue driving to Cholpon-Ata, upon arrival in the city visit an open-air museum of petroglyphs (dating back to 800 B.C.) then Ruh-Ordo memorial complex.  Overnight in Albatross hotel.

Day 2: Cholpon-Ata-Karakol (140 km)

After having breakfast transfer to Karakol. On arrival in Karakol,  you will visit Russian Orthodox Church, the Dungan mosque which is built without using a single metal nail, and the museum of M.V. Prejvalsky. After having lunch in the city you will get ready for the following 3 days trekking to Ala-Kul lake. Dinner and  overnight are at the hotel.

Day 3: Karakol– Sirota camp (6-7 hours trekking)

          Breakfast. Then you will be transferred to the first bridge of Karakol river by 4WD Russian car along Karakol valley where you start your trekking. You go on your trekking along fur tree forest between stunning rocks of Karakol valley. Picnic at the second bridge of the river. Continue trekking to Sirota camp (2800m). Dinner and overnight in tents at Sirota camp.

Day 4: Sirota camp – Ala Kul lake – Keldike gorge (7-8 hours trekking)

Early in the morning start trekking to Ala-Kul lake. On that day you will pass Alakol lake.  Lunch is at the altitude of 3532 meters above sea level on the bank of the lake and go over the Ala-Kul pass (3860 m), then descend to Keldike gorge. Dinner and overnight in a yurt in Keldike gorge (3200 m).

Day 5: Keldike gorge-Altyn-Arashan  (3-4 hours trekking)

After having breakfast start trekking towards to Altyn-Arashan valley. It`s the place with a hot spring development set in an alpine valley, containing the 5020 meter Pik Palatka in its southern part. Lunch in a guesthouse in Altyn-Arashan then take hot spring. Free time and enjoy the nature. Overnight and meal in a guesthouse.

Day 6: Altyn-Arashan-Karakol (4-5 hours trekking)

Breakfast. Start trekking down to Ak-Suu valley along the Altyn-Arashan river. Meet the taxi driver at the entrance of the village then transfer to Karakol, lunch in the city. Free afternoon in the guesthouse and have a rest. Dinner with Folklore and dance show in Dastorkon restraint in Karakol. Overnight and meal in guesthouse.

Day 7: Karakol-Kochkor- (300km)

After breakfast transfer to Kochkor along southern shore of the lake. On the way visit Jety-Oguz gorge (40 km) the picturesque gorge, which is famous not only for coniferous forest, flower clearings and interesting gorges for hiking, but also for red and sandy formations which are called «Seven Bulls» and «Broken Heart». Swimming in the lake and lunch on the half way then visit Skazka gorge, fantastic gorge with varicolored sandy formations. One of the best views on the Issyk-Kul Lake is guaranteed. Then drive to Bokonbaevo where you can see eagle hunting demonstration. Then yurt show demonstration in Kyzyl Tuu village. Continue driving to Kochkor and on arrival in Kochkor visiting the Felt carpet workshop. Overnight and meal in guesthouse.

 Day 8: Kochkor-Kilemche (5-6 hours horse riding)

After having breakfast you will be transferred to Kyzart pass where the horse riding starts.  You will cross Kyzyl-Kiya pass. Lunch is in the yurt camp at Chaar-Archa jailoo then continue over the Pass to Kilemche Valley with views of 4400 m high Baba-Ata Mountain.  In about 2 hours horse riding after lunch you will be in Kilemche pasture(jailoo). You have time for walking and enjoying the nature. Dinner and accommodation at the yurt camp. (Riding time about 5-6 hours.)

Day 9:  Kilemche-Tuz ashuu (Song-Kol alke) (6-7 hours horse riding)

Breakfast. Then you go on your trip to Song-Kul lake. On the way you will pass the mountain which is called “Jalgyz Karagai” at an altitude of 3400 meters above sea level. It is a good opportunity to see the beauty of mountains and lake from the top of the pass.  Lunch is in the yurt camp almost on the shore of the lake, after lunch continue riding a horse to the north-east of Song-Kol along shore of the lake. Dinner and overnight are at the yurt camp. (Riding time about 5-6 hours.)

Day 10: Song-Kul-Tash-Rabbat  (260km)

After breakfast at Tuz ashuu, local people organize our national game “Kok-Boru” which is played on the horse. Then leave Song-Kol to Tash Rabat, it is located in the heart of Tian Shan Mountains. The stone made sight built inside the mountain (3200 m) has no analogue in the world. The building had been used as hotel and shelter for travelers on the Great Silk Road. In total there are 31 rooms in the mountain. The thickness of walls is 1 m. There are also underground prison cells for ancient thieves. Lunch in Naryn city then continue driving to Tash-Rabbat. Upon arrival visit the caravan-serai and you will have an opportunity to see the yaks and nomadic life. Overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 11: Tash-Rabbat  -Kol-Suu lake (220km)

After breakfast transfer to Kol-Suu lake which is situated on the borders with China. Driving with an unbeaten track. It is a very beautiful small lake between high rocks and it is located at 3500 m elevation in the Kurumduk Valley which means “the preserved valley” of the Tian Shan mountains. Picnic on the half way. You can see wild eagles and nomadic life. You will sleep in a yurt.

Day 12: Kol-Suu lake-Naryn (4-5 hours horse riding)

After breakfast start horseback riding towards Kol-Suu lake. Enjoy the nature and have lunch in a yurt camp. Then transfer to Naryn. Sleep in guesthouse.

Day 13: Naryn-Bishkek  (317km)

Breakfast. Transfer to Bishkek, lunch on the half way in Boom gorge. Continue driving to Bishkek. Farwell dinner. End of the tour

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
