Day-By-Day Itinerary

Day 1. Welcome to Meet Our Team / Rocky Hills
Travel to Rocky Hills, in Middle Gobi The trip goes towards a visit a massive and granite basalt rock formation. This nature protection zone, Rocky Hills, is one of the most beautiful places for walking area. Overnight will spend an open-air in a tent.

Day 2. Drive to White Cliffs
From the big Granit Rocky Hills, we travel to White Cliffs, which we will be entering into the South Gobi, now, one of the wonderful steppes with ancient rock paintings. This is a magnificent, colorful canyon. Overnight will stay with a local family in Ger.

Day 3,4. Explore Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park / Hiking through Valley
After Breakfast with the family, we start driving to the majestic Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, where we will enjoy the incredible scenery of one of the biggest national Park of Vulture Valley. Next morning, we will explore and hike through the eastern valley of the National Park about 9.6km. The valley is an unusual narrow canyon with a stream that flows through the Zuun Saikhan Mountains. In the winter, the stream freezes several km into the gorge. It remains frozen for most of the year, except for the middle of summer. The ice remains usually disappear around early July. Early in the morning or late in the evening we hope to see a rare ibex and Yol Vulture. Overnight will spend in our tent in the valley and second-night stay with a local family in Ger.

Day 5. Travel to Khongor Sand Dunes, Further in the Southern Gobi
We will spend most of the days in Khongor Sand Dunes. We will see the marvelous Sand dunes, some of the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia that stretches for an extraordinary 120km long, 20km wide and about 300m high. Enjoy the Mongolian starry night sky. Overnight will stay with a local family in Ger.

Day 6. Explore Gobi Desert by Camel Riding & Enjoy the Gobi Scenery
After relaxing morning breakfast, you will have camel riding to Sand Dunes. The Camel ride will take us through amazing desert scenery with a stony and sandy landscape and then in the evening climbing to the top of the dunes during the sunset giving you an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding desert. Overnight will stay with the same local family for another night in Ger.

Day 7. The Road to Bayanzag / Flaming Red Cliffs
Today we will drive to the Flaming Red Cliffs commonly known as the ’’Flaming Red Cliffs’’. Afternoon, we will hike around the ancient red rock formation. The Bayanzag, commonly known as ’’Flaming Red Cliffs’’ was named by Roy Andrew Chapman, an American explorer who visited Mongolia in the 1920s, and also is famous for the discovery of dinosaur fossil eggs. Nearby is an unusual Gobi Shrubs tree forest, which we can explore at our leisure. We will enjoy the sunrise and sunset on the wide steppe. Overnight will stay at a local Ger camp.

Day 8. Heading up North / Travel to Ongi Temple Ruins, in Middle Gobi

After breakfast, we will leave Bayanzag, heading to the Middle Gobi region, drive to the Ongi Buddhist Temple Ruins. The day is all yours to enjoy our scenery from mountain hills, steppe changing into the Gobi scenery through the wide huge open land called Ongi steppe. This Buddhist temple was built in the 18th century. The temple was the main religious center of the southern part of Mongolia. Overnight will spend an open-air in a tent.

Day 9. Travel to Orkhon Waterfall
This morning we head up to Orkhon Waterfall. We will exit out of the Gobi dust, entering into the grassland. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about twenty thousand years ago: Surrounded by high mountain peaks with green forest. Overnight will stay with a nomadic family in Ger.

Day 10. Enjoy Orkhon Waterfall & Horseback Riding
In the morning you will meet your horse for the first time and you are able to ride your horse. You will be briefed by the guides about the horses, the rules, the riding and sightseeing opportunities in the area. We will have a horse ride around the waterfall area and around noon we will make a short stop for a picnic near one of the rivers. Overnight will with a local family in Ger.

Day 11. Enjoy Hot Spring Tsenkher, in Arkhangai Province
Today we will drive to the hot spring and enjoy them. The hot springs emerge from the ground at 85 degrees Celsius. Overnight will stay at a local Ger camp.

Day 12. Excursion around Ancient Capital City of Kharkhorum / Drive to Khogno Khaan Mountain
Before the last day of our journey is dedicated to visiting the Erdene Zuu Monastery in Kharkhorum, which was the ancient capital city of Mongolia in the 13th century for about 30 years, located in the northwestern part of Uvurkhangai province of Mongolia. The Erdenezuu monastery is the oldest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, it was built in 1586 by Abtai Sain Khan. However, after the fall of communism in Mongolia in 1990, the monastery was turned over to the lamas and Erdenezuu and again became a place of worship. After a day excursion in the city, we will continue to drive to the Khogno Khan mountain area, a unique combination of Gobi sand dunes, and beautiful mountains. We will have an opportunity to walk the Ruins of Temples inside the mountain. Overnight will stay with a local family in Ger.

Day 13. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar city
After breakfast, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar and on the way enjoy our lunch, ending our journey.

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
