Day 1. Tuul river valley
The travel crew will meet you at the hotel at 7:00am and then directly drive to the Nogoon Lake, which is located near Tuul Gol/River in the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar city. We will drive through construction wastes in order to get the place, but we will walk in very nice willow trees which surrounded by small freshwater stream and pools formed from an old gravel pit. We will spend all morning in the area exploring the birds of willow trees and wetlands. Target species in willows includes White-crowned penduline tit, Long-tailed rosefinch, Blyth’s pipit and probably Yellow-breasted bunting. We will visit small patches of reedbeds where Oriental reed warbler gives their harsh chack calls. Wetland birds will be some common waterfowl including Mallard, gadwall, Eurasian wigeon, Tufted duck, Common pochard, Common and Ruddy shelducks, Goldeneye, and Garganey. Other interesting birds are Demoiselle crane, White-winged and Common terns longipennis, Black-winged stilt, Common kestrel and Black-eared kite.
After lunch, we will drive to the other part of the Tuul Gol. We will find Azure tit, Azure-winged magpie, White-cheeked starling, Daurian Jackdaw, and Red-billed Chough. (L)

Day 2. Gun Galuut Nature Reserve
The travel crew will meet you at the hotel at 7:00am and then directly drive (130km) to the nature reserve where we will bird at the lakes, marshlands, steppes, and mountains. The reserve is a well-known place for its sightings of Argali wild sheep. On the way, we will visit a lake called Ikh Gun where the target species will be Winged-winged scoter, Demoiselle crane, Whooper swan, and Swan goose. Common birds at the lake include Great crested grebe, grey heron, ruddy and common shelducks, garganey, northern shoveler, Pintail, Mallard, Gadwall, Eurasian wigeon, Tufted duck, Common pochard, and Goldeneye. We will arrive at the camp at about lunch time. Our camp is located on the bank of the famous river Kherlen.
Following a few minutes’ rest after lunch, we will drive to the marshland to see fascinating White-naped crane, Swan goose, and possibly Bar-headed goose. If we have time, we will get willow trees along Kherlen River, located at the base of a mountain. Raptors include Steppe and Golden eagles, Saker falcon, Cinereous vulture, and Common kestrel. Larks on the steppe are Mongolian lark, Shore lark, and Asian short-toed lark. This is the wonderful time for migrations of waders. Of course, on the top of list, we have Red-necked stint, Little stint, Asian dowitcher, Pacific Golden Plover and Green sandpiper.
Then we will return to the camp for dinner. We will come back to the same places to get a better views of the target species. (L/D)

Day 3. Gun Galuut NR to Terelj NP
Breakfast at 7:00am, then we will start driving to the Terelj NP which is the southern end of the great Siberian taiga forest. On the way, we will visit small lakes for some interesting migrants. At about lunch time, we will at the camp.
Following arrival in the national park, we will check in our tourist ger camp near birding site. Afternoon we will do light walking near the campsite and see some interesting birds including Olive-backed Pipit, Siberian rubythroat, Willow tit, Taiga flycatcher, Common rosefinch, Yellow-browed warbler, Chinese bush warbler, and Pine bunting, and probably Eurasian sparrowhawk. Dinner in restaurant at the ger camp. (B/L/D)

Day 4. Terelj NP
Today we will have packed lunch from the camp and do birding in the forest for a whole day.
Early morning walk around camp to get a better view of the above mentioned species. Target species will be Oriental and Common Cuckoos, Eurasian hoopoe, Great spotted woodpecker, Great tit, Willow tit, Pine bunting, Red-throated thrush, Siberian rubythroat, Dusky warbler, Greenish warbler, Yellow-browed warbler, Taiga flycatcher, Asian brown flycatcher, and Eastern buzzard (B. b. japonicus). We will watch some special mammals including Red squirrel, Chipmunk, Long-tailed souslik, and Daurian pika. On your
request, we will do an attempt to see Black-billed Cappercaillie. We will drive to Ulaanbaatar city and we will arrive to your hotel at about dinner time. (B/L)
