Altai Eagle Festival in Western Mongolia

Day 1, Fly to Ulgii (Western Mongolia) and after lunch we will drive to Taban Bogd National park at the evening reach to Tsagaan Gol valley and meet the Tuvan people who are also nomads and small ethnic group of Mongolia. This place surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains. Overnight at yurt. L+D (lunch, dinner)

Day 2, Horse ride towards the Base camp of Great Altai Tavan Bogd Mountains. (32km (16km*2) up and down in one day) Tavan Bogd means “The Holy Five", referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level as well as others like Malchin peak, Eagle peak, Nomad peak and Ulgii peak. There we see 20km long Potanina glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Overnight in Kazakh or Mongolian ger. B+L+D

Day 3, Drive to Syrgaali area (Twin lakes: Hoton and Hurgan lakes). We will pitch our camp near to Nomadic family. Overnight in Kazakh ger or camp. B+L+D

Day 4, Today we will drive 15 km to see petroglihs from the time of Huns and Turkic invasions. After lunch we will continue  driving towards the Ulgii and arrive to ”South River” camp.

Days 5-6, Meet the Kazakh Eagle hunters. The rodeo of eaglehunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close. There are approx 400 eaglehunters in Bayan-Ulgii aimag. The eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. During the festival we also see some Kazakh Traditional Horse Games, Camel racing and others. Overnight in “South River Camp”. (comfortable bed, hot shower, toilet, eating place, beautiful nature).

Day 7, Drive to Kharangat valley where the nomadic families live and stay with them in the yurts (gers). You will see the real nomadic way of life of Mongolian nomads. B+L+D

Day 8, Today after lunch we will drive towards to Ulgii and overnight at South River camp. During the dinner you can enjoy small traditional Kazakh concert.

Day 9, Drive about 40 min early morning from the camp and catch your flight to UB. End of the trip. 

Including: transportation within Mongolia, hotel in Ulgii city, all the overnight Gers and tents, three meals a day, English or Chinese speaking guide, cook, renting of riding horses or camels, support staff including drivers, all Border, Festival and National park permits. Possible to help with some visa problems.

NOTE: Possible to include domestic flights.

Payment Method

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
