The lake Merzbacher is known for its mysterious fill and explode cycles. Every year between mid July to August the lake bursts and explodes into Enylchek River below the glacier and starts a new cycle of filling. The lake is named after the German geographer Gottfried Merzbacher led an expedition which discovered it in 1903. It is an object of research scientists, close by there are observation stations.
