Trekking in the Pamirs Mountains
Khorog-Bachor-west end Of Yashilkul-Murgab

This trekking part is easy for bigginer, the trek starts from Bachor village which is located in the north and 125 km far from Khorog (center town of the region),getting to this beautiful village familiriezed with local lifestle and will help you to acclimitisized. Bachor where trekkers start their journy, its a place for trekkers, here you can do horse ride, climbing, day trip towards crash alicopter, amazig landscape there, old mine and e.t.c activaties. If you are in Bachor there are many optins for trekking & horse riding, wearthere you want for 2days trekking or week.
Our trip start from Khorog not Dushanbe (capital), so how to get to Khorog? Here you have two options:1st by transport & 2nd by plane. The easiest and cheapest is transport (land cruiser), if the raods are dry and car dosnt breakdown then you can get there in 13/14hrs with lunch & dinner stop. You just need to go to (tourbaza) where you can find share taxi,get there early and take a good seat by about 7am. Make sure you inspect the the car,check tires, see if he has a good spare, (land cruiser or Pajero) whatever you choose. Car leave when its full about 7 passangers, latest between 8&10am, Locals are very nice to ride with...enjoy the experiance.

Day 1) Khorog- Bachor-Sawzasich, Pick up from Khorg driving along Ghund river on the (Pamir Highway)you will arrive in Bachor village which is a lovely, Pamirian settlement. You have the opportunity to get familiarized with local traditions and the life of a remote community. Bachor is 3300m above sea level, 5 hours driving. Getting to the village,having lunch, & meet the trekking crew, packing the animal and Here your trek starts, along Gund river but this time without car, the route is very easy and enjoyable, you can even feel the of the river which flows with the high speed, overnight will be in Sawzasich, 13kmaltitude 3600m above the sea level, B,L&D
Day 2) Sawzasich-Yashilkul dam, From Sawzasich to Yashilkul the trail is pretty much the same, some part of it goes through small forest, the route is easy going, along the Gund river until to Langar gate, we start to climb up, towards Yashilkul, stop in Burghulmol pass the view on the top is spectacular, you can see the whole part of Yashilkul lake, hiking down to the dam, possibe to have fishing there, overnight close to the dam in the tent. Distance is 12km, altitude 3730m above the sea level. B,L&D.
Alternative: here you have two options one goes to Bulunkul along the car road and another one keeps going through the hiking trail towards Marjanoy gorge, along the Yashilkul lake.
Day 3) Yashilkul dam-Marjanoy, Hiking along Yashilkul lake, towards Marjanoy, the trail is easy and pleasant, with a lot of nice view of the lake and some views of the moutains on the left side of Yashilkul lake, some part of the trail is a bit rocky but its only 30meters, the rest is quite nice, overnight in Marjanoy camping ther tent, distances is 13km altitude 3720m above the sea level. Day 4) Marjanoy-Sumantash-Bulunkul-Murghab, From Marjanoy we keep hiking along the Yashilkul lake after Marjanoy gorge we crossing the Marjanoy river, the river is easy for crossing, 40 meters, very slow, after one hours hike we will reach the Chinese ruined tomb which is left of Kushan empire III-IV BC, after tomb we getting towards Sumantash lake, which after Yashilkul lake, next to the lake there hot spring free of charge, condition is basic and the water inside the pond is not so hot, after trekking is very good espeically for musculs & here is our trekking route is finished, saying good bye with trekking crew and drivng towards Murghab via Bulunkul lake, Distance is 150km 3600m above the sea level.
