Jyrgalan Karakol Tian Shan Ski Touring 11 days

Tired of skiing the same resorts and cutting the same lines?
Are you looking for a backcountry adventure where you're able to ski from the doors of your camp?  On our tours, we love to have a mix of skinning, skiing, horseback riding, snowshoeing and cat skiing in one tour.

In addition, we have some really amazing base camps, ski in ski out Yurts near Karakol, guesthouses at the foot of the mountains in Chong Kemin and Arslanbob, amazing alpine huts in Altyn-Arashan and Chong Kyzyl Suu and even in Suusamyr.

Depending on the wishes of our guests we are able to provide them Kyrgyz, Russian and Swiss Guides or you can bring your own guide with you.

No matter what type of adventure you're looking for, we have the experience and local knowledge to make your trip to Kyrgyzstan unforgettable. 

Day 1: Arrival in Bishkek with a transfer to Karakol

● Your driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to a guesthouse in Bishkek City.

● You will be able to rest after a long flight and after breakfast, you will be on the road to find higher grounds and fresh snow.

● The first stop is the Burana tower, it’s the site of an ancient runes of the Balasagun empire from the 15th century.

● You will have lunch along the way in a small cafe and the last stop will be in Karakol. 

● After the long drive to Karakol you will be greeted by your hosts where you will stay in a classic Soviet-style guesthouse.

Day 2: Freeriding at the Karakol ski base

 ● Today will be the first day of your ski tour where you will be able to get to know your guide and get to know the other fellow travelers.

● After breakfast, everyone will head up to the Karakol ski base to get to know the snow here in Kyrgyzstan.  There are many places to tour off of the ski base.

● It’s very important for safety that our guide is able to see how the group is touring and to see the level of the group.

● Lunch will be had at the Karakol ski base where you will be able to meet local skiers and get a feeling for local people.  

● At 4:00 pm the lifts close and everyone will head back to Karakol where everyone will be able to take their equipment and head to Jyrgalan where you will spend the night.  

● Dinner will be in the ski touring village of Jyrgalan.

Day 3: Jyrgalan Ski Day 

● Today you will have an alpine start where you will be able to ski tour to the southeast side of the village.

● Depending on the snow conditions you will be able to ski tour in this area all day.

● Lunch will be had on skis.

● At the end of the day you will be welcomed back to the guesthouse where you will be greeted with bottomless cups of tea and a warm dinner.

Day 4: Jyrgalan Ski Day 

● Today you will have an alpine start where you will be able to head to the north-west side of the Jyrgalan village.

● The approach is a bit long, but worth it once you see the view from the summit.

● There is a lot of aspects to ski from this part of the Jyrglan. It proves to be a great place to ski every year.

● Lunch will be had on skis.

● At the end of the day you will be welcomed back to the guesthouse where you will be greeted with bottomless cups of tea and a warm dinner.

Day 5: Jyrgalan Ski Day

● Today you and your guide will be able to make your own plan for the best places to tour in Jyrgalan.  You might be able to head behind the village and tour on the north-east side of the village or return to a place from the day before.  Today is a flexible day for you and your guide to decide which place to tour.  

● Lunch will be had on skis.

● At the end of the day, you will be welcomed back to the guesthouse where you will be greeted with bottomless cups of tea and a warm dinner.

Day 5: Jyrglan Ski to Asku Gorge 

● After breakfast, you will head into the deep mountains near Asku Gorge.

● You will have the choice to ski up to the Yurt camp or to ride in the back of the snowmobile.  If you ski tour up to the camp it will take ~3-4 hours or a 40-minuet snowmobile ride.

● Once you arrive at the camp you will be able to unpack your things and start your ski tour from the backcountry yurts.

● Lunch will be had at the camp or on your skis.

● At the end of the day you will be welcomed back at the Yurt Camp where you will be greeted with bottomless cups of tea and a warm dinner.

● Don't forget to save time for the hot tub or the Russian banya.

Day 6: Ski Touring in Asku Gorge 

● Today you will have an alpine start to explore this area.

● Lunch will be had at the camp or on your skis.

● At the end of the day you will be welcomed back at the Yurt Camp where you will be greeted with bottomless cups of tea and a warm dinner.

● Don't forget to save time for the hot tub or the Russian banya.

Days 7: Ski Touring in Asku Gorge 

● Today you will have an alpine start to explore this area.

● Lunch will be had at the camp or on your skis.

● At the end of the day you will be welcomed back at the Yurt Camp where you will be greeted with bottomless cups of tea and a warm dinner.

● Don't forget to save time for the hot tub or the Russian banya.

Day 8: Ski Touring in Aksu Gorge to Karakol 

● Today is the day to make your last hard push to a nearby peak or to tour the wild nature in the Aksu Gorge.

● Lunch will be had at the camp or on your skis.

● At ~3:00 you will have to pack up your gear and head down to town by skis or by snowmobile. 

● Tonight, you will be able to rest in a guesthouse in Karakol and recharge yourself.

Day 9: Karakol to Horseback Riding with Skis

● Today will be a fun day to enjoy the nature near the town of Karakol. 

● At ~9:00 am you will meet with the horseman and you will make your way to the summit of the nearby ridge.  The horses are very calm and use to working with guests during winter. 

● Lunch will be shared with your guide and horseman on the top of the ridge.  

● After lunch, you will be able to head down from the ridge and arrive back at the horseman's house.  

● After touring with horses, you will be able to enjoy a banya near Karakol and arrive back at the guesthouse to have a rest for the night.

Day 10: Karakol to Bishkek

● Today you will be able to say goodbye to your hosts in Karakol and make your way back to Bishkek.

● The first stop will be at the 2nd largest alpine lake in the world Lake Issyk Kul.  You will be able to enjoy the great view of the lake and enjoy a short hike to fairy tale canyons.  

● After a short trek in fairy tale canyons, you will have lunch on the way back to Bishkek. 

● Once you arrive in Bishkek you will be able to enjoy a farewell dinner with a short walk around the town.

Day 11: Bishkek to the Manas Airport            

● Everyone will be transferred from Bishkek to the Manas Airport to catch your flight back home.

Payment Method

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
