Day 1 / Tsaagaan Survaga
After breakfast we will drive to the famous Tsaagan Survaga and we will explore the area hiking around.
Tsagaan Suvarga or White stupa is a rocky formation eroded by the wind located in the Southern border of the province of Dundgovi. The site is scenic and look like a “ghost city”. Here there is an interesting cave 70m long and the other attraction is Del uul, the black mountains near here where is possible see very old rock drawings.
Day 2 / Yol Valley
After breakfast we will leave Tsaagan Survaga for drive untill Yolyn Am (190 km). Yol in Mongolian language means vulture. We will explore the valley and we will see the ice that persist even in summer months in contrast to the desert climate. We will also visit the natural museum Gurvan Saikhan inside the park.
Day 3 / Khongor Sand Dunes
After breakfast we will drive you up to Khongor (150 km), the second largest sand dune in the country that stretches on the north side of the mountain ranges of Zoolun and Sevrei. Near the Khongor River there is an oasis. We will ride the camels and we will explore these amazing dunes. If you like to climb or walk there is the possibility to climb these dunes and continue the excursion exploring the area.
Day 4 / Bayanzag
After breakfast we will drive toward Bayanzag (240 km) where we will see this beautiful rocky formation created due to the erosion of water and wind over millions of years. There you will see dinosaurs bones and eggs found by an American zoologist. The site is also for the Flaming Cliffs. Is wonderful to watch the sunset from there because it seems to be “on fire”. We will take a walk around and sleep there.
Day 5 / Ongi Monastery
Today we will drive until the famous Ongi monastery complex and their ruins.
Ongi Monastery is the name of the ruins of two big monastery near the Ongi river in Dundgovi Province. The two monastery are the called Barlim and Khutagt, the first one have 11 temples and the second one 17. Builterd in the 18th century are one of the largest temples complex in all of Mongolia and Ongi monastery housed over 1000 monks at its height.
Day 6 / Karakorum
After breakfast we will drive you towards Karakorum.
Karakorum was the capital of the Mongol Empire between 1235 and 1260. Is possible see the ruins in the Övörkhangai Province in Mongolia. Another point of interest is the Erdene Zuu monastery, part of the Central Mongolia world heritage site.
Day 7 / Orkhon Valley
From the monastery we will continue towards the famous Orkhon valley to the highest waterfalls of 25 meters national heritage Unesco. In addition to these wonderful waterfalls there is a volcanic area. We willl take the horses or depending on your preference will walk to discover the area.
Day 8 / Tuvkhun
From Orkhon valley we will continue on to the monastery of Tuvkhun (70km). This monastery is located atop the mountain Shiveet to about 2000 meters and was built around 1650 for meditation and study purposes. Inside there is a lot to see, such as quarrying, rock imprints, symbols linked to the independence and representations inside the monastery.
Day 9 / Tsenkher Hot Spa
Today we will go to the Tsenkher hot spa and we will hiking in the afternoon around the area.
Tsenkher hot spa are in the green Arkhangai region near a wooden area many old volcanos responsible for the numerous water springs and natural hot water that flows around. you will have a very nice and relaxing bath. Hot springs have healing properties like helping articular diseases and nervous system’s diseases.
Day 10 / Khorgo Terkh National Park
After this relaxing day we will go towards the Khorgo Terkh famous national park. There we will see the Chuluut canyon that has erupted in prehistoric times creating an incredible landscape. The Khorgo volcano (not active anymore) and the Lake Terkh are surrounded by sandy beaches. The area is bounded by 13 volcanoes and rock formations. We will climb almost to the top one of these volcanoes and walk near to a gorge.
Day 11 / Shin Ider
After this spectacular valley we will drive for 300 km to Shin Ider. Tomorrow we will leave and we reach Murun and the beautiful Hovsgol lake.
Day 13-14 / Hovsgol Lake
This famous lake stretches between Mongolia and Russia for about 100 km and its basins account for the 3% of all the water present on Earth. The area from the late 90’s has become a national park and boasts a great variety of plants and animals. An ideal destination for nature lovers.
We will hiking around the area, rest a bit for the lunch and upon request is possible organize a shaman ceremony for the evening.

Day 15. Uran Volcano
We will continue our trip around the Uran Volcano and the last day we will go back to Ulan Bator. Uran is an extinct volcano in the western side of Bulgan province. Uran means Artistic and Mongolian people named it so because the crater seems a nice creature of a craftsman.
Day 16-17. Amarbayasgalant Monastery and go back to Ub
After breakfast we will drive up to the Amarbayasgalant monastery and we will visit it.
Amarbayasgalant means in english the “Monastery of Tranquil Felicity” and is one of the most largest Buddhist monastic centers in Mongolia. The monastery is near the Oven Valley in Selenge province and was established and funded by theof Yongzheng Emperor. That monastery Was a very important monastery for the tibetan buddhism and during Stalinist purges 28 temple survived. Many monks were executed by the Russian Communist and a lot of statues and thangkas have been destroyed.
After the visit we will sleep near the monastery and the next days we will go back to Ub.
