The trail to the Mountain Kazbegi’s Gergeti glacier is one of the most stunning places in Georgia and the days spent on this way is the vacation of a lifetime. Hiking to Gergeti Glacier offers glistening mountain landscape with colliding glaciers, lush alpine meadows, roaring rivers and marvelous panorama views over the Great Caucasus Mountains. Visit the famous Gergeti Trinity church (14th c). Afterwards, this Hiking tour takes you to the route up to the mountains and reaches Gergeti glacier. We overnight in the tents here. Next day, in the morning explore surrounding areas and return to the Kazbegi, and eventually to Tbilisi. This tour offers you a great length of adventure in Caucasus mountains.
Day 1: Tbilisi-Kazbegi-Gergeti Trinity Church-Gergeti Glacier
Tbilisi - Gergeti Trinity Church- hike to the church which is located on the 2200 meters from sea level, right below the summit of Mt Kazbegi and above the small town of Stepantsminda. The church was built in XIV century, while its separate bell tower was constructed after several years. 3 hours is needed to cover 10 km distance of hiking from Kazbegi to the church.
Gergeti Glacier - after the church, we are taking the path into the wild mountains. We follow the mountains range and narrow gorges, passing the Sabertse pass and reaching to the Gergeti glacier. Its width is 6,0 km², length- 8.92 km. We are hiking on the glacier to reach our destination.
Day 2: Gergeti Glacier - Gergeti-Kazbegi-Tbilisi
Kazbegi – in the morning, we are heading back to Kazbegi which is a small town in mountains areas, offers cozy cafes, restaurants and a magnificent view over the Mount Kazbegi.
Gudauri – A famous winter resort is surrounded by Great Caucasus mountain peaks. Stop at the Panorama view site and take a breath and photos in the green mountains.
Ananuri Castle Complex – a medieval architectural complex unites two churches, several towers and defense walls. Beautiful frescoes, facades and views over the Jinvali reservoir makes a beginning a journey as a fairy-tale.
The minimum number of people in a planned group tour is two travelers.
