Charyn Canyon - Lake Kaiyndy - Lake Kolsai (two-day tour)

Charyn Canyon -Eco-park (Almaty region)

Canyon Charyn is located on the territory of the Charyn National Park, created with the purpose of preserving natural and geological objects. The National Park was established on February 23, 2004. On the territory of the park there is a large number of rare and endangered species of animals listed in the Red Book.

The most famous attraction of the park is Canyon Charyn. It is a picturesque natural place, which strikes with its unearthly landscapes. The depth of the canyon is 200 m. The height of the sheer mountains of the canyon reaches 150-300 m. The canyon itself is a natural monument, built of sedimentary rocks, the age of which reaches 12 million years. The landscapes here are truly amazing. At sunset, when the sun goes beyond the horizon, the canyon Charyn is painted in scarlet, pink and orange colors. Around the silence and only from below you can hear how the violent streams of the Charyn river beat against the steep cliffs. This spectacle will not leave anyone indifferent.

Kaiyndy Lake - Kolsai Lakes National Park (Almaty Region)

Gorge Kaiyndy is located at a distance of 11 km to the east of the Kolsai gorge. In this gorge lies the amazing young lake of Kaiynda, a popular tourist destination. This reservoir arose as a result of a catastrophic earthquake and a tectonic collapse, at the beginning of the twentieth century (1911).

Kaiyndy in translation from Kazakh means "birch". The paradox is that Lake Kayyndy is surrounded by a magnificent coniferous forest. The explanation is very simple: below the lake in the gorge is the largest in the entire Tien Shan birch grove, which gave the name of the gorge, the river and the lake.

Lake Kaiyndy is at an altitude of 1800 m, its length is 400 m, the width is about 100 m. The maximum depth of the reservoir as of 2014 is 21 m. The water is exceptionally clear and clean, but very cold, only +6 ° C. Despite the low water temperature, Kaiynda Lake is a success for diving enthusiasts.

Evidence of the recent origin of the lake is the young forest that grew up on the dam of the lake, and the trunks of flooded fir trees, still not rotten in the water. These trunks, protruding from the water, look like masts of flooded sailing ships.

Kolsai Lakes - Kolsai Lakes National Park (Almaty Region)

Kolsay lakes (Kulsay) are a system of three lakes in the northern Tien Shan, in the Kolsai gorge, in a lintel connecting the Kungei-Alatau and Zailiisky Alatau ridges. The lakes are located in the territory of the Raiymbek district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan and are located 10 km north of the border with Kyrgyzstan, 330 km southeast of Almaty at an altitude of 1000 m, 2500 m, 2700 m above sea level.

Lakes are called "the pearl of the Northern Tien Shan." The depth of the lakes reaches 50 m. Among the fauna - rainbow trout.

Kolsai Lakes include 3 lakes:

- The third lake is at an altitude of 1818 m, its length is 1 km, width - 400 m, depth - 80 m.

- The middle (second) Lake Kolsai (Mynzhilgiya) is situated at an altitude of 2252, the largest of the three lakes.

                   - The first lake is Kolsai or Upper Kolsai - at an altitude of 2850 m.

Anyone who has been fortunate enough to visit these places will never forget their splendor, silence and tranquility. When the surface of the water is absolutely calm, it reflects the sky and a charming panorama of the mountain landscape. On the coast, there are guesthouses, which always open their doors to nature lovers.
