Medeo-Chimbulak  (Almaty region)

The ice rink Medeo, located at an altitude of 1691.2 meters above sea level, is known all over the world. It was erected in 1972. The ice surface occupies 10.5 thousand square meters, which allows to hold competitions in speed skating, hockey and figure skating. A gentle climate in the gorge, optimal level of solar radiation, low atmospheric pressure, weak wind and pure glacial water - all this provided high-altitude, the rink is very popular. More than 120 world records were established here by well-known athletes.

Chimbulak  is a popular ski resort in Kazakhstan, near Almaty, located on the Zailiyskiy Alatown ridge much higher than the famous alpine skating rink "Medeo". Favorable natural conditions attract tourists, mountaineers, skiers to this area with an accessible terrain, allow to lay the ski runs with a difference of altitudes of 900-1000 m. In this connection, since 1954 the "Chimbulak" ski sport base started functioning here. The length of the route of the sport descent from the Talgar Pass is 3500 m, the giant slalom is 1500 m, the average width is 25 m, the slope is 11-29 °.
