Central and Western Mongolia Combined Tour

This 12 days tour to Mongolia covers the most interesting cultural and historical sides of Mongolia. Central part of Mongolia: Ulaanbatar, heart of Mongolia, Karakhorum old capital city of Mongolia, National Parks, religious monuments and places, nomadic people and their traditional life style. The most Western part of Mongolia: Wild nature and life, Kazakh’s Hunting with Golden Eagle, nomadic life and more. Mongolia: The Land of Blue Sky, is one of the last nomadic country in the world! Tour guides, cook, drivers, camel and horse rangers will accompany the group.

Detailed trip Itinerary:

Day 1. Arrive to UB, transfer to your hotel. 

Arrive to airport and meet by our team/ guides, drivers/. From the airport we will drive and stop to the Zaisan Memorial. The Zaisan Memorial is a memorial in the southern area of the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar that honors allied Mongolian and Soviet soldiers killed in World War II. Lunch time at the restaurant nearby Zaisan monument. Drive to Best Western Tuushin hotel and check in. Group can directly drive to Hotel depending from their choose.

Day 2. Tsonjin boldog, Great Chinggis khan’s giant horse riding statue and terelj NP, stay at lodge at Terelj. (65 km, 2 hour drive)

After breakfast we start driving towards Terelj National Park and on the way we will visit to Chinggis Khan equestrian statue at Tsonjin Boldog. Chinggis Khan equestrian statue is a 40-metre tall statue of Chinggis Khan on horseback, on the bank of the Tuul river at Tsonjin Boldog,(54 km east of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar), where according to legend, he found a golden whip. The statue is symbolically pointed east towards his birthplace. At the evening the group will arrive to the destination place, Terelj National Park. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 3. Horse riding at Terelj NP(4-5 hours ride)

Gorkhi-Terelj National park is considered one of the most beautiful worth visiting places for travelers who wanted to rest in surroundings near UB. If you like adventure activities such as hiking, horse or camel riding and visiting nomad family and stay overnight in traditional Ger(yurt) dwelling within short period, this is the real place to fulfill your wishes.

Horse riding-through the vast steppes is one of the adventurous activities for who came in nomadic Mongolia. Mongolians are said that “ Nations born on horseback”.

Hiking- is the best experience in the park area. Sometimes it seems like rock climbing instead of hiking. You will hike through the green meadows, strange shaped in the Rocky mountains and side along the river of Terelj and Tuul. As well as the group can see and try Mongolian archery and lot more interesting things to see and do here. Overnight at Hotel.(4*)

Day 4. Drive to UB, city tour. Cultural show in the evening. (65 km, 2 hour drive)

Today we will visit other sight seeing places of Ulaanbaatar such as: The National History Museum which tells the rich history of Mongolia. The heart of Ulaanbaatar, Sukhbaatar Square, is just a short walk away. Here we will see the Parliament House, National Opera and City Hall. During the dinner we invite Throat singer to perform for the group. Mongolian throat singing is one particular variant of overtone singing practiced by people in Mongolia, Inner Mongolia, Tuva and Serberia. It is inscribed in 2009 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO, under the name Mongolian art of singing, Khoomei.

Day 5. Early flight to Ulgii city, Western part of Mongolia and drive towards Twin lakes of Syrgaali area. (2,5 hours flight, 170km, 6 hours drive after  flight)

Early flight to Ulgii city, Western part of Mongolia. After having early lunch we drive to Twin lakes of Syrgaali area in Altai Tavan Bogd NP. Along the way, we will find numerous petroglyphs and Turkic stones and picnic lunch. Bayan-Ulgii is rich in archaeological remains, as a reminder of the Bronze Age and the time of the Huns and Turkic invasions. Reach to Ger camp. We will pitch our camp near to Nomadic family. We are now only 15km from the Chinese border. Overnight in Kazakh or Mongolian ger or camping. B+L+D

Day 6. Exploring the Twin Lake area and day with nomads. 

Today you relax and swim, fish and explore amazing mountainous area.  These days you can see and learn regular day life of nomads and their tradition. Like horse riding, fishing and hiking around. Also, we see the snowcapped mountains with forest, which make the wall between China and Mongolia and some beautiful waterfalls. Overnight at yurts(nomads tent) or camping. B+L+D

Day 7. Drive back to Ulgii city and visit Eagle Hunter’s Family.  (170km, 6 hours drive)

Drive back towards Ulgii, on the way we visit to Kazakh eaglehunters family. See the magnificent eagles and learn about eagle-hunting. Eagle-hunters typically use female birds because they are bigger, stronger, and more aggressive than their male counterparts. Hunters typically keep their birds for 10 years before releasing them back into the wild. Overnight in “South River” camp. B+L+D

Day 8. Catch a flight back to UB. (2,5 hours flight )

Transfer to your hotel and free day.

Day 9. Drive to Karakhorum, Moltsog els sand dunes on the way, beautiful landscape, Camel riding. (360km, 6 hours drive +lunch and camel riding)

Travel to Karakorum, the former capital city of world’s greatest land empire, established by Chinggis Khan and on the way wi will visit Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dune, a unique area combining forest, Gobi sand dunes and rocky mountains. Excursion to Hugnu Khaan Mountain and sand dune on the steppe. Free time for hiking and camel riding nearby. By the evening arrive to Karakorum city. Overnight at “Karakorum” hotel or in a ger camp. 

Day 10. Erdene zuu temple, Bilge Khan’s museum Stay at Karakhorum. 

Today we will tour the oldest Buddhist monastery, Erdenezuu, a religious complex spanning over 400 sq. meters surrounded by 108 stupas. It was first built on the ruins of Karakorum in 1586 by Abtai Sain Khan. The site has some of the best works of religious art and architecture in Mongolia. Visit Karakorum Museum. Overnight in a ger camp. 

Day 11. Drive back to UB. (360km, 6 hours drive +lunch time)

Day 12. Fly out to your country, End of the trip!

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
