2 - Days Horseback Riding to Petroglyphs of Sazan Ata River in Sayram-Ugam National Park, Shymkent City
Welcome to wild nature in the mountains of South Kazakhstan!
I would like to present my horseback riding tour, where I’ll be your individual English speaking guide and driver with my own car. During the tour I am responsible for your personal safety. Please, see the program.
Sayram-Ugam National park is one of the picturesque places in Southern Kazakhstan. It is situated not far from Shymkent city, about 70 km. Big areas of the park are covered by evergreen forests of juniper, wild apple trees and wild grapes. You can meet there on the wild paths snow leopard, bear, mountain goats and gazelles, marmots, a lot of very rare and endangered birds and amphibians. This horseback riding route is quite popular among local people and foreign tourists. During the tour professional guide and groom will help you with the horse.
Shymkent city – Sayram - Ugam National Park – Shymkent city
1 – Day
8 a.m. – Departure to the National Park from Shymkent city (70 km). Driving through ancient Sayram town. Visiting medieval mausoleums.
9 a.m. – Entering Sayram-Ugam National Park. Sayram Su mountain gorge. Western Tien Shan, Talass Alatau mountain range. Sayram Su mountain river. Peak Sayram is the highest in South Kazakhstan (4238 m).
10 a.m. – Start of the horse trekking. Whole length of the route in the mountains to final destination is 12 km. Horse trekking in the wild nature by path. The path starts from tourist complex and runs along the wide and picturesque gorge of Sazan Ata river. Above the tourist complex the path goes along the right bank of the river.
12 p.m. – Approach the confluence of the two upper tributaries of the Sazan Ata river. On the northern slopes of the gorge are magnificent juniper forests, in the floodplain of the river - dense birch groves. After a short rest continue driving along the right bank of the left creek
13 p.m. – Having lunch and water in the flat meadow. Then pass the river not reaching 100 meters to canyon. The path goes along the steep left bank in the southeast direction.
16 p.m. – Coming to mountain lake Silbili. Short stop for rest. Relaxation, meditation and good rest. The mountain rivers with crystal glacier water. Fresh mountain air filled with fragrant herbs. The path passes along brightly blossoming alpine meadows.
18 p.m. – Coming to a large bivouac field in the upper reaches of the right tributary of Sazan Ata river. Stop for the overnight in the tents.
20 p.m. – Cooking on fire and having dinner. Free time.
2 – Day
9 a.m. – Going to petroglyphs. A group of petroglyphs is located near (15 min walk) from the clearing on the left bank of the river. Figures of animals are plotted on the flat side of black stones. Care must be taken when inspecting and photographing petroglyphs - scree stones are shaky and mobile. Making photo session.
11 p.m. – Start of going down by the same path and return to tourist complex.
18 p.m. – Coming to tourist complex. End of horse trekking.
20 p.m. – Transfer to Shymkent city.
Price includes guide services, transfers, horse rent, tent, three meals, entrance fees.

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
