Day 0. The day of the group gathering in Almaty. An acquaintance, discussion of the itinerary.
Day 1 (320 km). Almaty - Saty village. Charyn Сanyon, Kaindy lake. Accommodation in a guesthouse.
Day 2 (50 km). Kolsay lake. Walk along the picturesque path to the second Kolsay lake. Transfer to the village of Saty. Accommodation in a guest house.
Day 3 (250 km). Saty village - Karakol. Kegen, Karkara. Crossing the border of Kyrgyzstan - Kazakhstan. The mound complex of San Tash. The Przewalski Museum. Cathedral, Dungan mosque. Accommodation in a guest house. Dinner in the local popular cafe.
Day 4 (180 km). Karakol - Tamga. Zhety-Oguz Gorge, Waterfalls Devichye Spits. Hot springs in the Dzhuuku gorge. Accommodation in a guest house. Evening picnic on the beach on the shore of Issyk Kul.
Day 5 (200 km). Breakfast. Gorge Barskoon. Waterfalls Bowl of Manas, Tears of the Leopard, Beard of the Aksakal. The Arabel Valley. Suek Pass (4200 m). Return to Tamga, evening beach on the shore of Issyk Kul.
Day 6 (320 km). Tamga - Song-Kol. Lunch on the most beautiful beach behind the village of Aksay, Salt Lake on the coast of Issyk Kul, Song-Kol lake. Accommodation in a yurt camp. The evening promenade on the shore of the Song-Kol lake.
Day 7 (400 km). Song-Kol - Arslanbob. Fascinating views from the Kazarman pass, the Moldo-Ashuu pass, the most beautiful panorama of the Naryn river valley. Arrival to Arslanbob, accommodation in a guest house.
Day 8 (50 km). Arslanbob. Day of relaxing. Walk among mountain walnut forests. Horseback ride to the small and big waterfalls.
Day 9 (460 km). Arslanbob - Sary Mogol. After breakfast, we leave to Osh. We will visit the minaret in the town of Uzgen, dated 11th century. We will taste the famous Osh pilaf in the local popular cafe. After lunch we will drive to the base camp on Lake Tulpar-Kol, on the way we will observe the majestic landscapes of Tien-Shan and Pamir. Pass Taldyk (3615m.), Sary-Tash, Sary-Mogol. Accommodation in a guest house or yurt camp.
Overnight at Lake Tulpar-Kol is well suited for acclimatization, before going up to the Pamir Highway.
Day 10 (280 km). Morning walk along the lake with a beautiful view of Lenin Peak. Breakfast in the camp. Passage of the border Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan, Kyzyl-Art Pass (4282 m). Lake Karakul, the pass Ak Baital (4655 m). Shorkul Lake and Rangkul, a mesmerizing view of the peak of Mustak Ata (7509 m) from the village of Rangkul. Arrival in Murgab. Accommodation in a guest house.
Day 11 (250 km). Sasykkol lake, Chukur-Kul lake, Karadara lake, Khargush pass (4235 m), Khargush lake, Zorkul lake, the main part of the road along the Vakhan corridor runs along a high terrace with dizzying serpentines and cliffs along the border with Afghanistan. On a clear day, we will see the peaks of the Hindu Kush peaks (over 7,000 m), the highest mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Arrival in Langar. Accommodation in a guest house.
Day 12 (150 km). Drive to the city of Ishkashim. On the way we will visit the hot healing spring of Bibi Fatima. Visit to the fortress of Yamchun. The village of Zong, the fortress of Kaakha, Namadguti village. Arrival in Ishkashim, accommodation in a guest house.
Day 13 (130 km). We will drive along the Panj river to the city of Khorog. On the way, we will visit the hot springs of Garm Chashma. Arrival in Khorog, accommodation in a guest house.
Day 14 (260 km). Today we will visit the local bazaar and the Pamir Botanical Garden on the terraces of the river. Departure to Kalai-Khum. On all the way from Khorog, our way will lie along the high-water river Panj, and the majestic mountains of Tajikistan and Afghanistan will accompany us. Arrival in Kalai-Khum, accommodation in a guest house.
Day 15 (285 km). Today our way from Kalai-Khum to Dushanbe will run through two high mountain ranges - Vakhsh and Hazrati-Shokh. Through the pass of Khaburbad (3252 m) we are moving to the village of Tavildara along the Obikhingou river, in the vicinity of which there is one of the most beautiful valleys of the foothill Pamir. Arrival in Dushanbe. Hotel accommodation.
Day 16. Dushanbe. Bazaar Shohmansur, Victory Park on the hills, the National Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan. cafe "Rohat". Independence Square, a grandiose monument to Ismail Somoni, Rudaki Avenue, Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 17 (150 km). Departure to Iskanderkul lake in fabulously beautiful Fann mountains. The road to the lakes runs through the Anzob Pass (3,372 m) with stunning panoramic views. A waterfall 38 meters high, named Fann Niagara, is 40 minutes' walk from Lake Iskanderkul. We can visit the snake lake and a water spring called Panjchasma (five springs) with healing properties. The village of Sarytag, the night in the guest house.
Day 18-19 (150 km). Sarytag - Mountaineering tourist base "Artouch". Walking around, beautiful Alaudin lakes. Accommodation in guesthouse.
Day 20 (170 km). Basecamp Artouch - Samarkand. We will visit the archaeological site of the ruins of Old Panjakent (Central Asian Pompeii) and the Old City of Sarazm. Passage of the border Tajikistan - Uzbekistan. Arrival in Samarkand,accommodation in a guest house. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 21 Samarkand. Visits to Gur-Emir Mausoleum, Registan Square, Bibi Khanum mosque, Shahi-Zinda necropolis, Ulugbek observatory and the central Samarkand bazaar. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 22 (320 km). Samarkand - Tashkent. Arrival in Tashkent. Accommodation in hotel. Visit Old City part of Tashkent with Khast-Imam Complex where the world famous Quran of Caliph Uthman. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 23 Tashkent. Visit one of the largest markets in Central Asia – Chorsu. Lunch in the national teahouse, where you can enjoy the Uzbek cuisine. Visiting Independence Square, the monument "Sorrowful Mother", Alisher Navoi, Amir Temur square. Finally we shall never miss the beautiful metro network with interesting metro stations constructed during the last days of Soviet Union. It will be an enthralling day in exploring the historical aspect of Tashkent.
Day 24 (150 km). Tashkent - Shymkent. The border crossing Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan. Arrival in Shymkent. We will visit the History Museum, Memory Alley in Shanshi park, the Museum of Political Repression Victims, Abai Museum and Ethnography Museum. Accommodation in hotel.
Day 25 (750 km). Shymkent-Almaty. Lunch in local cafe in Taraz. Kordai. Late arrival in Almaty. End of the expedition.
This tour can be used as a tour-transformer when people can join or outgo at a certain time.
It is also possible to perform this expedition in a reverse way. We plan to make this expedition in the middle of August + - 10 days. We form the group of the expedition up to July 15 to have a spare time for the preparation of transport, permits, and approval of route details.
For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
