Highlights: beautiful lake in the middle of steppe surrounded by low mountains, stunning panoramic view of Assy table-land with real nomad camps, a real functioning mountain Space Observatory
Season: April — November
Duration: 2 days, one night (can be extended for 3 days + Turgen waterfalls)
A cool point of travelling is that your mind stays still while everything is changing. From geographical point of view you will see wide semi-desert with stony ground changing into grassland meadows full of blossoming flowers and even fur-trees. From spiritual point of view you will have a chance to start with broad land where you can scream, run, play Frisbee and whatever with a beautiful lake for swimming and resting. Feel yourself absolutely free in this awesome landscape! Then following the road we will ride up to a high-mountain table-land Assy. So many colors and smells are around! Come on, it’s time to step from your comfort zone. We will sleep in a tent at the table-land just opposite the real nomads who still come here for all the summer to tend cattle. One more highlight will become a former Soviet Space Observatory. Why is it here? — Super-transparent air, no light-pollution — do you want to try this? Great, cause we have a portable telescope with us! Let’s explore! If you wish, you can extend your trip for one more day to visit Turgen waterfalls. The narrow path goes along the river, and the forest is so old that it still has some sites with permafrost from the Ice Age. Hiking is always a good idea, isn’t it?
