Uzbekistan - The steps of Marco Polo

«Central Asia, land of the Sun, of deserts and fertile valleys, of cities that hide among their pedestrian streets legends of beautiful princesses and stories of young people playing among gardens and patios of madrasas.

Its most distant history takes us to the time of Cyrus the Persian, in the 6th century BC, when its old nomadic peoples, newly conquered, founded cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara or Khiva, which later, over the centuries, will go being protagonists and centers of gravity of many of the events that will occur in Central Asia.

Through these lands the caravans of the Silk Road passed, transporting merchandise and all the traditions, cultures and religions that through their long journey from China to Rome joined the merchants. In these cities we can see the most wonderful monuments of the country, whose architecture faithfully represents the Islamic art that developed during the tenth and sixteenth centuries »
