Day 1  Fly to Ulgii

Fly to Ulgii City, westernmost province of Mongolia. At the airport meet our trip crew (guide,cook,driver). The journey starts with a scenic drive through beautiful countryside to two national park lakes (Khoton and Khurgan) where our trekking journey starts. Overnight in tent. (L /D )

Day 2, 3  Trek to Ak Su (White Stream) Valley 

Today we’ll trek to Ak Su (White Strem) Valley supported by pack camels and horses carrying our luggage and equipments. While trekking we will view picturesque and fascinating landscape of snow-capped mountains around the Khurgan Lake. Overnight in tent. (B /L /D)

Day 4    Trek to the highest pass

Full day trek  through the dramatic steppe valley with patches of Larch forests  along the river that drains from the Altai Tavan Bogd massif.  We spend the night near the pass. (B /L /D)

Day 5   Cross the pass   

Today we’ll cross the Altai at the highest elevation of some 3060m and here if we are in luck we might see big games such as bear, Ibex and wolf. Overnight is in this valley. (B /L /D)

Day 6   Gateway to Tavan Bogd mountains

Today we’ll trek to Mongolia’s most attractive alpine mountains, Tavan Bogd Mountains and stop at Tsagan Gol (White River) valley, the gateway to the Tavan Bogd Mountains. Enjoy the unforgettable stay at Tsagan Gol! This stunning valley with its small blue lakes and impressive alpine panorama offers amazing views. Overnight in tent. (B /L /D)


DAY 7   Trek to Tavan Bogd peaks

We’ll hike to Tavan Bogd peaks.We’ll pitch camp at the basecamp which is the campsite spot before climbing Malchin Uul (Herder Peak). Hiking to basecamp will take us 5-6 hours and it is on the edge of the Potanin’s Glacier, 19km long. Overnight at the base camp. ( B /L  /D )


DAY 8    Climb Malchin Peak (4020m)

Today will climb the Malchin Peak (4020m) which is the lowest of the five peaks and at the top a spectacular view over the Potanin glacier and high alpine panorama awaits you. Overnight is at the basecamp.  ( B /L  /D )


DAY 9   Hike back to the Tsagaan Gol valley

We’ll hike back to the Tsagaan Gol valley and have time to enjoy short on horseback hike to small crystal clear blue lake on a neighbouring hill and view fantastic lancape around the lake. Overnight.  ( B /L  /D )


Day 10   Drive back to Ulgii

Full of mountain-fresh air and fond of Mongolian Altai memories we’ll start our return journey to Ulgii. On the way we’ll stop by a Golden Eagle Hunter’s family to see Golden Eagle and take photos. Overnight at hotel in Ulgii. (B /L /D)

Day 11  Fly to UB

We will transfer you to the airport. Fly back to Ulaanbatar. (B)

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
