TREKKING TO ALA-KUL LAKE

Let’go to see one of the most beautiful lakes of Kyrgyzstan – Ala-Kul lake!

3-Day trekking to Ala-Kul and Altyn-Arashan

Route: Bishkek - Karakol - Karakol gorge - Ala-Kel lake (3532m) - Ala-Kel pass (3800m) - Arashan gorge - Bishkek.

 Duration: 4 day

 

 Day 1 . Bishkek - Karakol.

 On the way to Karakol we will visit Burana Tower (Upon your request). Lunch on the way to Karakol. (lunch is not included into the price). Next arrival in Karakol city tour, visit the Dungan mosque, built-in Chinese style and the Russian Orthodox Church, built of wood without using nails.

 Dinner and overnight at the hotel

It's possible to organize the transport: airport - Bishkek, Bishkek-airport

 Day 2. Transfer to the Karakol gorge to Sirota yurt camp (3532m).

The transition is 9 km, 5-7 hours, +1100 m.

After breakfast, go down the Karakol gorge then cross the river over the bridge by car, then go along the path to the forest on foot.

 Where the forest ends, the path runs along the river to a beautiful waterfall flowing from Lake Alakol, then a climb to the lake and a short crossing to the camp on the north bank

 Dinner and overnight in the tent camp or in Siorta yurtcamp at an altitude of 3600m.

 Day 3. A track through the pass Ala-Kel (3800m.) Arashan (2600m).

 Bathing in hot mineral springs, dinner and night in a tent camp at an altitude of 2600m.

 The course is 18 km, 6-8 hours, +200 m / -1200 m.

 Day 4. Altyn-Arashan - transfer to Bishkek.

 Moving 440 km, 7-8 hours, -1600 m.

 In the morning transfer to the city of Karakol and then return to Bishkek. Lunch and dinner of this day is not included into the price.

 

Inclusions:

  • Transport with a driver (Bishkek-Karakol-Bishkek)
  • Porters. They will prepare tents before you come to every point for overnighting and having dinner. You will not prepare the tents
  • An English speaking mountainous guide
  •  A cook if you will overnight in tents; you don't need if you will overnight in yurtcamp
  • Tents and equipments for making/having meals if necessary

 

 ALTERNATIVE:

It is possible to trek from Altyn -Arashan to Ala-Kul lake or on horseback like at the pictures. The tour is also for 3 days:

Day 1. Karakol - Altyn Arashan, 2-2.5 h

Day 2. Altyn Arashan- AlaKul - Altyn Arashan, 10 hours

Day 3. Altyn Arashan- Karakol, 2-2.5 h

 

 Note: the itinerary can be changed or other places can be added to the program.

What to bring: Sleeping bags; 1. Rain-coat 2. Sweater/fleece 3. Wind-stopper 4. Enough t-shirts and other underwear (think of taking smth with long sleeves to avoid sunburns) 5. Hat (remember – the sun can be violent) 6. Sun-screen cream (30 or higher) 7. Insect repellent (skin + clothes) 8. Good trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains. 9. Walking shoes (don’t need heavy ones) for the mountainous area walks 10. Personal first aid kit (most likely problems: blisters, sunburns, allergy, diarrhoea, sore muscles after hikes. Take painkillers, anti-histaminic, antibiotics of general action, and anything you need for your usual medical conditions). 11. Personal hygiene kit (disinfection gel is highly recommended) + some toilet paper. 12. Swimming suit (for Issyk-Kul) 13. A smaller backpack, except for your normal suitcase. 14. Payment Method

For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
