LAKE ISSYK AND FAMOUS “GOLDEN MAN”

We will visit Issyk canyon- one of the most wonderful and interesting places of Ile Alatau Mountains. This trip includes acquaintance with archaeological sites of Saka culture and beauty of Issyk Lake.

Our trip goes along Kuldja track, where hundred years ago trade routes passed across. The guide will tell you about Saka history, particularly a historical finding of 1970, i.e. Golden man. He is considered to be a Saka ruler that lived in Zhetysu 2000 years ago. Emphasizing importance of this finding, he became a symbol of independent Kazakhstan.

Moreover, you will visit State historical-cultural museum-park “Issyk”, where you will be shown examples of Saka period’s history and culture. Among these examples, you will see a copy of Golden man, golden jewelry, ancient ceramics, armament, elements of horse equipment and Saka mound.

Moving forward, we will come to Issyk Lake in Issyk canyon that is 1756 meters above sea level. The lake was formed 10000 ago as a result of enormous avalanche, which formed natural dam of 300 meters h. On the lake’s shore you can enjoy an awe-inspiring landscape and hear about details of 1963 catastrophe.
