Issyk Ata Gorge: One Day Cultural Tour from Bishkek

Day Tour to Issyk-Ata Gorge

If your short on time and looking to hire a one day tour from Bishkek a full day tour to Issyk-Ata Gorge is a great tour!  Issyk-Ata is translated to hot father and it’s a place where you can see a Soviet sanatorium and within a large gorge with a calming waterfall. Click on this link to watch a fun film about Kyrgyzstan.

The tour will start at 8:30 am from you B&B

We will drive up Alamedin Gorge to the panorama of this gorge and then slowly drive to Issyk-Ata Gorge.  The drive to Issyk-Ata is thought a country road full of rolling hills and in spring you can see amazing flowers throughout the drive.  Once we arrive in Issy-Ata Gorge we will walk through the sanatorium to get close to the local culture.  We will take an easy 2-3 hour hike to the Issyk-Ata Gorge Waterfall.  The waterfall is 3-4 meters.  We will have lunch in a Kyrgyz Yurt, we will be able to have a Kyrgyz shashlik, Lagman, or plov with bread and tea.  It’s possible to have a short swim in the hot spring pool where you can be healed from any illness according to the locals.  After lunch, we will drive though the country side to the village of Kant.  We can have a dinner in Kant at a very nice Georgia restaurant or have traditional Kyrgyz dinner at a café in Bishkek.

The tour will be finished at ~6:00 pm.

*For trekking tours it’s important that you bring waterproof trekking boots and a simple backpack to put your camera, lunch and water.

*8:30 is a great time to start the tour, I’m very flexible but I want to show you as much as possible in one day.  The tour could end at 6 pm in Bishkek.

*This price includes the cost of guide service, transport, gas for the car, lunch, and one L of water per person.

Testimonials from my guest:

My wife and I were fortunate to have Alex as our guide while in Kyrgyzstan recently. He is extremely knowledgeable of the region and its people. His engaging manner and fluency with several local languages were a welcome surprise. He personalized the tours in a unique way. He knows where to go for genuine cultural experiences that include authentic and tasty meals. I heartily recommend Alex and his company for those who want up-close and inside views of Central Asia.
