Day Hike to Ala Archa National Park!
Ala Archa is a great place for a one-day trek into the mountains near Bishkek. During the Soviet Union, this was a legendary place for serious mountaineering climbers. Present day it’s a great place to see snowcapped mountains and large glacier walls. There are many day options in the Ala Archa Area. Click on this link to watch a fun film about Kyrgyzstan.
Option 1: I will guide you to the Ala Archa National Park to the Ala Archa Waterfall. The trek is straight forward, we would start at the Ala Archa park and trek for 3-4 hours one way to the waterfall where we would have lunch in the valley and have an amazing view of the mountains. It’s a great hike for a beginner that wants to see a bit of the mountains, but does not want to push them self too hard. After the trek, we will return to Bishkek where you will be dropped off at your guesthouse.
Level of difficulty: Easy/Medium
Option 2: The harder option would be adding on to the first option and go above the Ala Archa waterfall and reach the Ratsek Hut at 3,300 M and see the Ak-Sai Glacier above. We would have a lunch at the hut and slowly make our way back to the Ala Archa National Park. This trek can be very steep in some places and it’s advised to bring trekking poles and full ankle boots. After the trek, we will return to Bishkek where you will be dropped off at your guesthouse. *This can be quite hard in winter.
Level of difficulty: Difficult to Hard
Option 3: A much harder tour that the rest and the most interesting. It would be a full two day one night tour. This tour would be to the Ala Archa abandoned ski resort in the high mountains. It’s a long one-way trek up the Ala Archa Gorge where we will cross the river 3-4 times until we reach the abandoned Soviet Ski Resort. It’s possible to camp outside in tents or it’s possible to sleep inside the hut but it’s not very clean / there is very limited space inside this area. It’s a great place for someone that wants to push them self and see something new. After the trek, we will return to Bishkek where you will be dropped off at your guesthouse.
Level of difficulty: Difficult to Hard 2 - 3 days tour *We have to agre the price for this 2-3-day tour.
8:30 am is a great time to start the tour, I’m very flexible but I want to show you as much as possible in one day.
6:00 pm is a great time to be back in Bishkek at your guesthouse or at a local café in the center.
Cost for the 1-day tour is:
My flat rate guiding cost + a simple car with gas 125 dollars per day per group. I can guide 6 people.
It's possible to extend this day tour with other tours in the Bishkek area or a small part of a bigger tour throughout Kyrgyzstan. If you were to add horseback riding in SonKul that would be amazing or a jeep tour to Kol Suu you would be blown away from the realness of Naryn!

Testimonials From My Guest:
Alex is the best! He arranged a ski trip for me to Kashka Suu, near Bishkek and gave me advice about visiting Ala Kol near Karakol and Kol Suu, near Naryn, both of which are incredibly beautiful spots. He has excellent connections throughout Kyrgyzstan and is very knowledgeable about the many tourism opportunities available there.
