Konorchek Canyons: One Day Trekking Tour from Bishkek

Day Trip from Bishkek to Boom Gorge

Are you looking to explore the “Moab Landscapes” of Kyrgyzstan?  A day trip to Konorchek Canyons is a great place to enjoy a full day of trekking and exploring in the wild red rock nature in Boom Gorge.
Click on this link to watch a fun film about Kyrgyzstan.

Once your guide meets you at your guesthouse at 8:00 am you will be driven 125 km / two hours to the head of the trail in Boom Gorge and start trekking up the narrow canyon.  The trek is not challenging, but in a few places it could be hard for some guests.  The trek is ~12/14 km and it total amount of time trekking is between 3-5 hours.  You will be trekking in a dry canyon where there is almost no sing of life such as green trees, animals, and it's a huge contracts to the rest of Kyrgyzstan.  Once you reach the panorama peak we will have lunch and there will be time to take pictures and to soak up the views of nature. The local legend is that you can see statues / people in the rocks.  An additional local legend, is that it was once a volcano a few million years ago and that’s why it’s so dry.  It’s a great place to see all year round. I think winter is the best time to see Konorchek Canyons because of the contrast between the snow and sand. After the trek, you will be brought back to your guesthouse in Bishkek.

Thank you very much for a most fascinating time in Kyrgyzstan.  The ski touring was fun and I much enjoyed Kok-Boru, horseback riding, eagle hunting, The Farm, and meeting your many friends.  It was all a great experience: I do hope to bring my family to Kyrgyzstan sometime.  Thank you for all your patience, care, and flexibility.
