The Best of Central Mongolia Tour in 10 Days
Day 1. Drive to Terelj National Park
The third largest protected area in the country, Gorkhi Terelj National Park was established in 1993. The Gorkhi-Terelj National Park borders with the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area and receives the largest number of visitors due to its natural setting and proximity to Ulaanbatar. Terelj is named after the Terelj river and is an area of endless slopes and valleys with high-eroded rock formations, mountains covered in dense forests.
Day 2. Drive to Ogii Lake
After breakfast we will drive to Ogii Lake which is 25 km long and 5.3 km wide 15.3 meter deep fresh water lake. Lake is known for its fish.
Day 3. Drive to Terkh White Lake
Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake is an astonishingly beautiful lake with relatively pure fresh water. Torrents of lava issuing from the Khorgo volcano blocked the north and south Terkh Rivers, so forming the dammed lake of Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake at an altitude of 2060 meters above sea level. The lake is 16 km wide, 4-10 meters deep with its deepest point at 28 meters and over 20 kilometers in length. It flooded 61,1 square km. The lake supports Pike and other fish.
Day 4. Terkh White Lake (horse trip to Khorgo Volcano)
Day 5.Arrive at the Tsenkher hot –spa.
Tsenher is a natural hot spring flows out whole year from the ground at 85 Celsius degree; country's second hottest, in mountainous Central Mongolia. It is located 1860m a.s.l. The spring comes out from far deep part of the ground and its water is not mixed with soil waters because it is hot. The water has high mineral content and containing everything from simple calcium, sodium to sulphuric. Folklore claimed medical value some of this spring’s have. The spring produce water that is good for health reasons and water is effect for joints, nerve system and considered good for many other diseases. Sometimes, people drink the water for diabetes and stomach ulcer and disabilities.
Day 6. Drive to the Tovkhon monastery
Tovkhon Monastery is one of Mongolia’s oldest Buddhist monasteries. Monastery was first established in 1648 by the 14-year-old Zanabazar, the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, the spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhism for Mongolians, when he determined that the location on the Shireet Ulaan Uul mountain overlooking a hill at 2,600 meters above sea-level was an auspicious location.
Day 7. Drive to Orkhon waterfall.
After arrive at the waterfall we will enjoy spectacular view of the waterfall and surrounding area, where we will have chance to take some beautiful photo shots of Orkhon Waterfall. H of waterfall is 20m and width is 10m. It’s originated by volcanic eruption and earthquake over 20000 years ago. And prepare for horse riding.
Day 8. Drive to Kharkhorin
We will drive to Kharkhorin where the oldest and one of the most attractive monasteries Erdene Zuu locates. The Erdenezuu monastery was established in 1585 by Abtai Sain King and built by Mongolian, Tibetan, and Chinese architectors.
Day 9. Drive to Mongol sand dune.
After breakfast we will drive to Mongol sand dunes where semi desert, Rocky Mountains, small lake etc…, beautiful landscape. We are going to ride camels and hike around the sand dunes. We can possibly see the sunset brilliantly in the area.
Day 10. We come back to Ulaanbaatar.
For a confirmed booking, a deposit of (10%) is required. Deposit is paid by credit card (secure payment via Stripe, no credit card fees). The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon start of the trip - unless Host & Traveler agree on different payment methods.
Cancellations can be made free of charge up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the booked service. The deposit (10%) is only refundable if the booking is canceled at least 30 days in advance.
